You need ctl + alt + del and then enter the password you use to get on the machine with. Once you get back to the desktop, right click in the middle of the screen, go to properties and then to screen saver and you will see a check box that says on resume, display logon screen, uncheck that box and then you will not have this issue anymore.

Try pressing "ok" if you did not set a password. Otherwise a password must be set on the computer like the one at the log on screen.

Why dell inspiron will not turn on

Try unplugging the power cable, disconnecting the battery, leave it our for a few minutes then reconnect. If this doesn't work then you may need a new ac adapter/charger.

I have a studio 1537 Dell laptop and I can not open nor can I change the password to get to Windows. Can you help

You got 2 options: 1-Start the pc and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl>+alt>+del> keys twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows. Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts". Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen. 2-Some computer systems have a setting in the BIOS Setup to disable the password. The BIOS Setup is accessed with the F1, F2 or DEL key during boot up. If you have forgotten your password, most systems have a jumper on the motherboard that can be pulled off to clear the password. If there is no jumper available, you can also remove the battery for 5 minutes to clear CMOS.

I lost my password to my dell computer, how do i replace it again???

Hello.

There is a hidden Administrator account that is created when your operating system is installed. Access that account and then reset your password.

1. Boot your computer and press F8 repeatedly
2. Access Safe Mode
3. Key in "Administrator" in Username, with no password.
4. Go to Control Panel, then User Accounts
5. Select the account you want to reset the password
6. Change the password

Hope this helps.

Canr open my games on my sony psp 3000

if you are trying to open back up copies of games (iso/cso) you need a custom firmware installed on your psp. the official firmware does not allow playing of backed up games, you need to either download them from the playstation network, or insert a umd game.

Set up boot ask for a password - how to get it?

To reset the BIOS password read the information from this link.

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

Severe lag problems when playing wow I have a dell dimension 3000 and recently started playing WOW. The min. system requirements are 512 + RAM and my specs show I have 510. I have very limited knowledge of...

Although your computer has usually an Intel Pentium 4 chip installed, your memory of 512MB is really the absolute minimum. Depending of your Operating System (WinXP or Vista), you give WOW very little to work with. The 512MB minimum requirement for WOW means, that it would not even load/start if you had less.

My advice is to upgrade your memory to at least 1GB, to give your game more "breathing room". You can order the memory needed directly from Dell (here) or from another supplier like Crucial (here). Just check for the best price.

You did not mention if you have a separate graphics card installed. You onboard graphic chip is a "Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2". If you look at the WOW support page (here), you can find all supported (and unsupported) video cards. You might want to consider to invest into a better graphic card (like this one), if you want to keep playing WOW.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Replacing a cd drive

The 4600 has PowerDVD to play DVDs (You should have the software CD to install it on the 3000) DVD burning software would be Roxio/Sonic, and you should have that CD too.
If you don't have the CDs, then try download.com to download Free player software and Burning software

Dell Dimension 3000 will not run OS. Cannot get into BIOS

the manufacturer defualt password is 'dell' so you can try that. Otherwise reset the cmos chip by following the instructions in your motherboard manual. The reason it will not load is that when most os's install,. they install the neccesary drivers and software for the hardware present. Moving the harrdrive will not generally work. Your best bet is to back up all the data on your old machine to dvd etc and then format the drive and complete a re-install.

Password

Are you referring to your windows password? To bypass this, you can login on safe mode (F8 as soon as you see the Dell Logo) via administrator login. As soon as you were able to login under the administrator profile, follow this. Go to control panel --> User Accounts --> select the Account that you're having difficulty loggin in --> remove password ---> delete all characters under the field ---> click OK. Restart the computer normally.
If it happens that the administrator login also asks the same password, this would mean that your own profile is the administrator and the only way to eliminate this would be to do a Repair or OS reinstallation.
