Our icemaker is filling the tray with water while it is still turned in a down position to dump the ice into the buck. How is this problem resolved?

ice maker calls for water at the 11 oclock pos and only for a few sec .. it cannot dump at this time becaus it's not frozen . if it is filling with water at a different pos like 6 or 3 oclock the the timing is off and you may need to repl ice mker . mm

Ice machine does not make ice

No guide that I know of .

Open the freezer door and see if the laser light on the right side , flashes twice , then pause , repeatedly . Close the flap on the left side , and the laser should stop flashing . If this is what occures , then the optics ( cut off of the icemaker ) are ok . If you open the freezer and no laser on the right , check the position of the "rake" inside the icemaker . Close the freezer door for about 1 min , and then recheck the position of the rake . If it hasn't moved , then the icemaker is bad .
If the light flashes 2 times then pauses , pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker , and check later , to see if the ice maker has dumped the cubes . If did not dump , replace the icemaker . If did dump , and did not fill with water , then the water valve behind the refrig is bad . Also check the black fill tube above the ice maker fill cup , to see if it is iced up , keeping the water from going into the fill cup . If it is frozen , then replace the water valve , due to seeping ( not closing completely ) , causing the slight drip , to freeze inside the tube .
This is the only guide I know of and it's called an experience guide .

Icemaker not working- red light flashes constantly

The red light should flash twice , pause then flash twice constantly . If you close the flap on the left side , then the light should go off . This shows the optics (ice maker cut off ) are good .

Check the black tube ( fill tube ) , which puts water into the ice maker , to see if it is iced inside . If so , then the water valve behind the refrig is bad . It seeps into the tube and freezes , blocking the water flow .

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , then the water valve needs replaced . If it doesn't dump , and stays frozen in the ice maker , replace the ice maker . Also , make sure the coils under the front of the refrig are clean , as this will cause warmer temp in the freezer and the ice maker needs 5 degrees to operate .

Whirlpool icemaker microswitch location

If the icemaker is still in the refrig ,(easily removed with 1 screw ) pour about 2/3 cup of water into it . Also check the black fill hose which is above the icemaker fill cup , to see if it is frozen closed . If the icemaker dumps the cubes , and doesn't refill with water , replace the water inlet valve behind the refrig . If it doesnt dump the ice , replace the icemaker . My parts site is down , or I would give you part numbers for the water inlet valve and the complete icemaker .

The laser light should flash 2 times , pause , flash 2 times etc , if working correctly . If the laser light is not on , then the icemaker is in the harvest mode . If it stays off , icemaker is bad . If you close the flap on the left side of the freezer , the light should go off , until you release the flap . If these factors are ok , then the optics are ok .

Ice maker stopped working

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

I have a Whirlpool side by side fridge, model GC3PHEXNS02. The icemaker stopped working one week ago. I just replaced the dual water inlet valves, but the icemaker is still not working. The infrared switch...

The general rule is to put 2/3 cup of water into icemaker , and if it dumps , but doesn't fill , replace the water inlet valve . If it doesn't dump , replace the icemaker Pt # 2198597 . Check the black fill tube above the icemaker fill cup , to see if it is clogged with ice . The fill line runs from the back of the refrig , between the liner and cabinet ( unaccessable ) , and down to the icemaker . Some of this model refrig , come with a coupling on the back , which you can disconnect and blow thru , to see if it is clear to the icemaker . If you do not have a coupling , you may want to aquire one Pt # 4211117 , in case this happens again , also , turn your freezer control down slightly , it will be a quick troubleshoot step . It sounds like the optics are ok , but I'll still give you the information .
Open the freezer door and if you get 2 pulses followed by a pause repeatedly , press in on the left side flapper door and the optic should stay on steadily . If you still get the 2 pulse and pause , then the optics are faulty . If you get no light , the icemaker is in the harvest mode ,( trying to dump ice ) . If the icemaker arm is in the normal position and no light , the optics are faulty . When the optics are faulty , replace both sides , the emiter board and reciever board . They come togather in a kit Pt # 4389102 .
