Depends on stuck , i think that i see often with you g dj's and then dirt is the problem and no maintenanance , if you cannot use your height adjustment any more, take the whole unit outand try very thin only , WITHOUT a lot of force to gebtle move it both ways , is very gentle stuff and the problem is often that they've pushed it the wrong side. Number two, the hair heater gently warm it 10 minutes(gloves) ans that will do the the trick and whem loose emediatialy clean and use good lubricant(not to thin), but when you wanna buy a table and the heightadjustment is jammed, it is a bad onr.....runnnnn

SOURCE: technics mk2 tone arm replacement

once you soldered to circuit board place - this might help Advanced Tonearm stuff Tightening the suspension on your tonearm Some TT's have tonearms which seem to be loose. If you grab the tonearm and pull it gently back and forth and it seems loose you can tighten it. It shouldn't move at all. A loose suspension can severely affect it's performance - from jumping needles to binding. It's pretty easy to tighten the suspension. You'll need a small flat screwdriver and a large one. Use the large one to loosen the outer locking screw on the top of the pivot point. Now use the smaller screwdriver to loosen up the smaller screw. Put a drop of oil where the bearings are (under that top support on the other end of the adjustment screw) so that it doesn't bind. Now tighten the small screw slowly until it just contacts the bearings. Adjust the tightness so the tonearm doesn't wiggle if you pull on it but leave it loose enough for the tonearm to pivot freely without binding. Adjust carefully and don't overtighten otherwise the bearings will be damaged! When done, tighten up the locking screw. Tightening up the headshell locking ring Have you put on your headshell, twisted that knurled tightener at the end of the tonearm as tight as possible and have found that the headshell still moves around? What will happen is that the headshell won't sit parallel to the record but may be tilted as a result of twisting of the headshell. This usually occurs when you change headshells a lot or if you've had your turntable for a while, and can contribute to needle jumping so here's what you do to fix it. First read 3.2 on base disassembly. Remove the rubber base. There will be this big piece of hard black plastic covering almost everything. You'll need to remove it. To remove the tonearm assembly look for three screws (all formerly under that black plastic) and unscrew them. Be careful not to drop the tonearm when you remove that last screw! Now, remove the tonearm assembly from the rest of the 1200, and look at the bottom of the tonearm where the headshell is put in. There will be two tiny philips screws there. Get a jewelers screwdriver of the CORRECT size and tighten those up. Put the headshell on and try wiggling it to make sure everything is right. Now put your tonearm back on and close everything back up. hope this helps peace DJ Nyce

SOURCE: Tone Arm

It's very hard to get those screws aligned and tightened correctly. They are machine calibrated with the precise amount of torque. Once they become loose, it's very hard to get them back to original factory settings. Also, those screws are conical screws, which means they have a cone shaped tip on them. That cone shaped section sits on 4 very small ball bearings which balance the tonearm. There is a very thin piece of sheet metal which protects the ball bearings and keeps them aligned, if any of these parts are damaged, or bent in any way, your tonearm is damaged.

Unfortunately, if you can't get the balance correct, you will have to replace the tonearm. You can buy a new TONEARM HERE, however, replacing it, is a whole other process and not recommended if you have no soldering experience, as you could damage your unit even more.

Hope this helps.

My turntable a Crosley CR49 is about 14 years old. It plays just fine, but have to manually reset, clicking the tone arm after every record I play, either 45s or 33 1/3. How Can I fix this?

You will need to get to the underside of the turntable. There you should find that the arm when it gets to the centre of the record it will push on a switch. This switch might be out of position or just get stuck by grease or dirt. Correcting it should solve the problem.

THE TONE ARM ON MY ROCKOLA 459 SLIDES OVER THE RECORD WITHOUT PLAYING.

Hi
It sounds as if the tone arm has become unbalanced. Make sure the turntable is on a firm flat horizontal surface and at the opposite end of the arm from the needle there will be a weight and a means of altering the position of weight on the tone arm. This weight keeps the needle on the record but only lightly when positioned correctly. If positioned too far from the pivot post the needle will as you have experience skip virtually straight across the record. You need to adjust the weight so that the needle just sits in the groove and plays without being too heavy. It is best to use a record you are not too worried about for this testing as the test record can sometimes get scratched.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya

How can I stop the tone arm from returning too early on smaller records?

The adjustment for auto return position is normally at the tone arm base on the left side under a rubber grommet. Use a flat blade screw driver to move adjustment screw, then test. Keep fine tuning until arm lifts at desired position. Cheers John. Stylus City NZ

Tone arm on technics Sl-BD22 lifts before the end of an album

the anti-skate is set wrong, this stops the arm skatting on to the label in the middle of the record & destroying your stylus tip.

Tone arm keeps returning to rest on Crosley CR249

Hi, Try this. with it turned off. Lift tone arm across a record to the run out groove and set it down. Now power up and hopefully it will reset itself. In all honesty I would sell it and get a decent old school player. John. Styluscity.com

NSM Hit120 Jukebox.

there is an opto sensor the gets blocked when the tone arm is at the end of the song. It looks like a black u mounted on a circuit board. The flag that interupts the sensor is on the tone arm. The opto must be dirty so it thinks it's at the end of the song and continues to the unload sequence dispite the tone arm having just started playing.

I have new Prolectrix turntable USB Direct and tone arm leaves record before end of playing record. Hope you can help. Thanks

Turning the return position adjustment (the flat black-headed screw next to the tone arm) a little clockvise will probably fix your problem.

Problem playing 45 Records to their entirety.

There is an adjustment on the tone arm that you use to set where the tone arm picks up at the end of the record. This adjustment is normaly at the back (pivot point) of the tone arm and will be on the side probably. By the way, the tone arm is the part that the stylus is mounted to that swings back and forth to reach all the surface of the record. Make your adjustment and then test and continue doing this until you get it just where you want it. It is a process of trial and error. Good luck.
