Question about Light Outboard Motor Boat Bass Fishing Saltwater Base

Have 1975 Merc 115 h.p. motor. won't turn over with key

Was runnig good when shut off by key, 12 hours later engine won't do anything. even the elect choke by key switch does not worknow. Checked battery connections &are ok. Checked starter by jumping direct from battery and it works, but would start even with key in start position. does the ignition switch on shifter case have a fuse somewhere? or maybe need new switch?

It may be your neutral safety switch. Try it again but this time turn the key with one hand and wiggle the throttle/shifter lever at the same time. My 25 johnson does this, but usually I can wiggle the shifter and she'll turn over. Hope this helps.

sounds like the ignition switch do you have allot of keys on your key ring ?having allot of keys and other junk on your key ring will wear out a ignition swing and ruin it from the weight

Yamaha 115 will not shut off with key or kill switch

not enough information on the motor. what year and model? but all yamaha outboards are shut down by the C.D.I. being grounded by the key switch or the emergency kill switch. the cheapest thing to test or replace is the key switch and the emergency kill. with more info on engine I can help you further.

1.5 hp waterway champion pool pump issue

Be sure you have connected the motor to the line leads correctly and that the motor is set for the proper line voltage.

A somewhat common problem is that most motors are dual voltage (can be ran on 115 or 230 volt) and come factory set for 230 volts. If you connect it to a 115 volt circuit it will run for a while and then overheat and shut off.

Engine won't start. Dash lights flash rapidly when key turned.

the battery says 12 volts but may be dropping to 4 or 5 under a load...i would suggest jumpstarting the car and see what happens.the battery should read in the high 12 volts and not less than 9.5 under cranking. the dash lights go out on your car when starting,and the alarm will go off ,and disable the ignition if the voltage is too low in cranking the car because the computer will shut it down and activate the anti theft.....check your battery posts are tight. best of luck

You may have enough room for a wrench. I have an old ignition set of small wrenches and those are slim. There is also a fitting called a crowsfoot which is thick like a wrench but short and fits on a rachet extension. The 1/4" drive set of sockets are usually shorter than 3/8th. If you have a camera, take pictures and go to Sears with it and buy something to work.

Here's something to try. There are cans of plastic coat to dip stuff into to insulate them. Then you could also try to remove the terminals and use shrink tubes on the wires and then replace the terminals. If only for a short while you can see if that fixes the problem.
