Hello, my name is Curtis, and I am a Customer Service Rep. for Sharp Electronics. If you cannot receive faxes from multiple machines than you might want to check to make sure you machine is first set to fax mode, also check to make sure than the phone service for the machine is analog and not digital. The machine will not work well with digital service. You could attemp a work area reset on the machine, the procedure for doing so is to First take out all the paper, Second unplug the main power cord, not the phone line. And Last after about 30 seconds to press and hold down the start and stop keys while plugging the machine back in. Once it turns back on you can replace the paper. If there is still a problem please contact Sharp at 1-800-237-4277.

Probably not. You can change that setting in the user modes in menu/function and set it to 99 minutes. HAve you tried another drum unit? Your charge corona wire in the drum unit maybe broken!
Problem lies in your Receive Mode setting. If you don't have a dedicated phone line for the fax machine, you need to set it up for either Manual where you answer every call or Fax/Tel whereby the Fax machine determines if the incoming call is a fax or phone call. Instructions per Intellifax 4100 Manual.
Select a Receive Mode
Choose the mode that best suits your needs by pressing the Mode button
repeatedly until the FAX and FAX/TEL lights show the setting you want to use.
Manual
You must answer every call yourself.
The Brother machine must be started manually
to receive faxes.
Fax
For use with a dedicated fax line.
Every call is answered as a fax.
Fax/Tel
For receiving fax and voice calls on one line.
The FAX answers every call and receives a fax or
double rings for you to pick up a voice call.
TAD
For use with an answering device.
The TAD answers every call and stores voice messages.
Fax messages are printed.
Fax machines have transmitters and receivers. It sounds like the transmitting is bad ( it is a board). I am assuming that you were able to send ( transmit) faxes before and this just started? I also assume that you have not moved the phone lines? If you have moved the phone line you may just have it plugged in wrong. If you have not moved and it was able to send before then I would say you need to have the transmitter board replaced. Replaced because it would be cheaper then sending it out for board repair. But if you call a Tech out to look at it, find out what they will charge you for the board with labor -- it maybe cheaper to buy a new one.
check your ink film maybe its empty, check the receiving mode if its on automatic mode, if its on manual mode you have to press the start button to start receiving fax.
