Why does my 973LM liftmaster remote will only open door bur wont close it?

I have 2 remotes, one wont work at all but it seems like the button is stuck. The other will only open the door but wont close it.

Will it close from the wall switch? If no, it is probably the alignment of the safety sensors. One probably got bumped.

Most garage door operators (openers) have infrared safety "beams". The door won't close, even with a wired push button, if something is in the way.

No it is not compatable. You will need a craftsman remote or a universal remote

IS LIFTMASTER 973LM COMPATIBLE WITH SEAR-CRAFTMAN 139.53635SRT MODEL?

Yes and No. The 973LM is Security + and the Craftsman is Billion code. You can program one to work with the other but none of your other remotes will then work.

We have a LiftMaster 973LM model - the remote only opens the door, but when it starts to close, it only goes down a tiny bit, then goes back up. The "Inside" remote however, you now have to press...

Check the sensors in the doorway. They must be pointed at one another and the small light on each one must be lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

Liftmaster 973LM. Remote opener does not work. Replaced battery - still does not work. Original owner left no manuals. Works with outside pad and inside button.

ONCE YOU REPLACE THE BATTERY YOU NEED TO REPROGAM THE REMOTE.

WATCH THE LED NEXT TO THE PROGRAM BUTTON WHILE YOU PRESS THE BUTTON ON THE REMOTE IF IT FLASHES THE REMOTE IS SENDING A SIGNAL AND SHOULD WORK.

IF IT DOESN'T FLASH THE REMOTE BATTERY MAY BE IN BACKWARDS OR THE REMOTE MAY BE BAD - IT IS NOT SENDING ANY SIGNAL AT ALL.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Where is the lock button on a 973LM

The remote does not have a lock button. If you have the 3 button wall control the lock button is on it.
