Get some WD40 and spray it on thw segment (the place where the type bars are swung) then everywhere the key mechinism pivots.

I wish I could see the unit. Something is blocking the lift assembly. Something simple I am sure. Lift it and lay it on it's back and look for a lever or spring that may be out of place. Maybe something dropped inside and is jamming it. Big paper clips or if you have a small child around. Little toys, pencils etc. Good luck.

It is probably just gummy. Get some WD40 and lube all the vparts and pivot points inv0lved in the shift.
