SOURCE: DELL 1907FP MONITOR

There were no screws on the back of my monitor so that was not an option for me. I figured I didn't have much to lose, so I took a very thin and small screw driver and pried the on-off button right out of its socket, which does break it. To the left, inside the hole, you can see where a tab on the button pressed against a small circular inner button. I pressed that with the screwdriver and the monitor turned right on. I replaced the button for the sake of cosmetics and will never touch it again. If I leave the monitor for any extendd period of time I will simply unplug it.

SOURCE: dell ultrasharp 1907fp bad contrast

I have seen a few of these monitors that when the display is dark in certan area's this usually indicates that one of the CCFL lamps has gone bad or there is a problem with the Analog/Digital Board, you can find the boards on ebay, but be VERY Certain that the board you order is the same that you take out of the monitor, as there are a lot of monitors that use the same simular boards but they are all different.

My Dell ST2010f monitor is very dim. What might be the problem?

2009 LCD monitor , 11 years old. and fails on all PCs I am sure.
all have CCLF black lamps, 99% are dead, or dim or even yellow tinged.
ok posted vast times this answer,
if the OSD brightness setting fails then....
the full story is here, 2010 is the first years of LED back lamps
you dont have those.
the CCLF lamps are bad, you can replace them or
buy never LED back lamped monitor, and frankly costs less.
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1015803/Dell-St2010.html#

can I assume you turned on any monitor
pushed the OSD menu button of front of iT
then navigated to the brightness OSD section
and it's already fully high.,
yes, then that monitor has bad CCFL backlamps.
they run on 300vdc and the main board inside does that.
the go dim, most of them are now, or dead.
the have 20,000hr life span , very very short lived
compared to new LED monitors, very low life.

How do I turn down brightness on my hp Windows 7 computer?

Hi,

Below are instructions to adjust brightness on HP laptop

    • Press the "Fn" key with the computer turned on and hold the key.

    • Press the "F7" or "F8" key on some HP laptops, which are printed with a small sun icon on the key. The sun icon is filled on the function key for dimming the laptop. The other key is printed with a hollow sun icon for brightening the screen.

    • Press the "Fn" and left arrow keys together on some HP laptops to turn down the brightness. The "Fn" and right arrow key will increase brightness. Press and release the right arrow key repeatedly, while holding down "Fn," to decrease the screen brightness slowly, or hold the keys to darken the screen as low as the setting will go.

  1. For HP Monitors

    • Press and hold the down arrow key on the front panel of the monitor below the screen to turn down the brightness on the external monitor to the lowest setting.

    • Repeatedly press the down arrow button to dim the monitor gradually.

    • Press the up arrow key on the monitor to increase brightness.

Deem light in display

Occasionally, you may find your laptop's monitor is too dim for your liking. A normal desktop computer's monitor has an on-board menu system that lets you adjust the brightness and picture control settings as you please. A laptop monitor has no such controls. You can adjust the brightness of your laptop monitor using your laptop's keyboard.

1.Press and hold the "FN" key on your laptop's keyboard. This is the "Function" key, which operates much the same way that the "Shift" key does: It allows keyboard buttons to be used for multiple purposes. It's located in the lower left corner of most laptop keyboards, next to the "Windows," "CTRL" and "ALT" keys.
2.Look at the top row of keys on your keyboard for a key with a tiny triangle pointing upwards and the symbol of a sun on it. This is the "Increase Brightness" key. With the "FN" key held down, press the "Increase Brightness" key. On most laptop keyboards this is the "F7" key, but it varies depending on the model.
3.Continue to hold down the "FN" and "Increase Brightness" key until your dim laptop monitor has reached the level of brightness you require. A laptop monitor can only get so bright. It will stop at its highest setting.
4.Release the "FN" and "Increase Brightness" keys. You have now fixed your dim laptop monitor.

I hope you find it very helpful.

I have Dell 1907fpc monitor. The image flickers and finally darkens. how to resolve the problem?

It sounds like your LCD Backlight/s are going out. To fix you will need to replace the LCD screen inside the Monitor. It may be more feasible to replace the Monitor.

I have installed dimmer switches in the living room. They started off reasonably bright, but after time the maximum brightness is considerably reduced. I have replaced one of the dimmer switches, which...

when you dim a light it increases the resistance, when you increase resistance it causes heat, the more watts you are trying to dim the more heat you create, heat will cause anything to break down, so add up all your light bulbs and make sure your dimmer can handle that many watts, use lower wattage bulbs and maybe a higher wattage dimmer

LCD back light is off or very dim

I changed monitors and it works??? What worked. Did the brightness appear? Is the monitor now functioning properly?

If not, monitors can have increase brightness by using the menu settings. The settings can be accessed by the buttons that are usually below the monitor screen on the front under panel. Adjust the brightness from there.

If that fails then change the monitor. That you are suggesting that the backlight is out, I am assuming that you have a flatpanel monitor and not a CRT. Either can be configured the same way using the menu buttons; however, the back light issues are different in the two types of monitor.

Good Luck

My LCD monitor has a dimmed display

You should be able to increase the brightness by holding down the blue "FN" key and finding the blue brightness buttons (usually the up and down arrows or two of the F keys above the numbers. The brightness buttons usually look like a sun with a up and down arrow.
