IF (not 1F) is same as Lockout.
Ignition lock out, means that the heater had three separate attempts to fire up, to have ignition. After three attempts, with no ignition of main burners, you will get the fault code. You clear this by cycling the power off and then back on. You may need to do this 2 or 3 times. Some times air is in the main gas supply line?
Or, Because we are human, we tend to make mistakes, and may overlook the obvious... is the gas valve in the on position? , and is the gas shut off valve on the supply line, open?
if the obvious is all good, then continue with your troubleshooting, next up would be to check the hot surface igniter.
you should also check for clogged main burner orifices.
especially the one on the most left, closest to the igniter.

What does the service symbol 1F referring to? The gas is on, but the heater does not ignite. After a few minutes, the symbol 1F appears on the screen.

It means Ignition Failure. They heater went thru its startup cycle, and when the gas valve opened, the heater did not sense a flame. The whole routine begins again. After about 3 attempts at this, the heater will flash IF and then go into a lockout situation. This is a safety feature of this heater.

No water or ice from lg lfx23961sw trouble code on display er 1f

Find the technical data information. It is a document somewhere in the refrigerator. It could be under the front, which, means removing the kick panel, or in the back behind the rear panel. Once you locate the tech sheet it might enlighten you are to what the error codes are. With this information you can make an informed decision as to how to proceed with your next actions.

Lg Refrigerator error code 1f what does it mean

Error code 1F indicates an abnormality of the BLDC fan motor for ice making, caused by a poor BLDC motor connection, DriveIC, and TR. This information can be found in the service manual on pg. 32 of the service manual: http://136.166.4.200/contents/Fridge/LFX25960/LFX25960_Service_Manual.pdf
From the research I've done it sounds like it is usually a bad fan motor that causes this condition. This will prevent the icemaker from working. I'm not sure if it will affect the defrost cycle. If you turn off the icemaker, then either pull the plug for a few seconds or turn off the circuit breaker for a few seconds, the front panel will light up and stay lit. Then you need to call for service.

PS: I'm finding out that this refrigerator is more problems than it's worth. First it was the drawer glides breaking, then a balky ice maker, now the fan motor. From what I found out on the internet, I'm not the only one with these problems. I've only bought two LG products, the refrigerator and a small LCD HDTV, but I'm not happy with either one of them. In my opinion LG is an inferior product.

Hope this helps someone.
