SOURCE: Which way does the paper go into the feed when faxing?
Load the originals, with the print side up, into the document feeder tray. If you are sending a single-page fax, such as a photograph, you can also load the original on the glass.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

SOURCE: Do the paper have to face up or down when sending a fax
You've probably already fidured this out bu trial and error but The manual calls for; Face Down.
SOURCE: faxing instructions
If you're putting it on the glass, it goes face down. If you're talking document feeder, look for the icon of a page. It will show printing with a corner curled (face up), or a blank page with lines on the curled part (face down).
For an example of what a face up icon looks like, check out the HP instructions for an HP machine here http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01325508.pdf
That's the generic answer to a non-listed model number :-)
