Tumbler belt came off

  • Unplug your dryer from the electrical outlet. Remove the lint trap by lifting its cover and sliding it out. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the two screws that hold in the housing of the lint trap.Lift up the top panel of the dryer and take off the holder for the door switch wire. Look for the screws that hold in the front panel of the dryer, located on top of the front panel, and unscrew them. Take the panel off the dryer by lifting it off.Look inside the dryer, find the broken dryer belt, and before taking it off, note the way it is routed around the pulleys, then take it off. Install a new Whirlpool dryer belt by slipping it around the tumbler with the grooves facing the surface of the tumbler. Ask an assistant to hold up the tumbler while you move the belt into the proper place, aligned with the black line around the width of the tumbler.Wrap the new dryer belt around the pulleys as noted in Step 3. If you don't remember how, or the old belt was snapped and not aligned properly, look at the dryer belt diagram in your user's manual.Align the front panel of the dryer with the tumbler. Put back in the two screws that hold the panel in place. Open the door of your dryer and with your hand, turn the spinner one time counterclockwise. Reconnect the holder for the door switch wire, being careful that it doesn't touch any moving parts.Use the screwdriver to carefully position the rubber seal along the back of the tumbler. Make sure the seal is on the outside of the tumbler and that none of it sticks to the inside of the tumbler.Slide the lint filter and housing back into place, and screw in the two screws that hold it in. Plug the cord of the dryer back into the electrical outlet and check that it spins properly.

    Removal & Installation

Before servicing any vehicle, please be sure to read the precautions section, which deals with personal safety, prevention of component damage, and important points to take into consideration when servicing a motor vehicle.

WARNING Vehicle must be in PARK prior to ignition cylinder removal.

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2. Disable the SIR (air bag) system, as outlined in the Chassis Electrical Section.
    3. Remove the steering column trim covers.
    4. Insert key into the ignition and rotate to the RUN position. Then rotate ignition cylinder back to ACC position.
    5. Depress the locking button through hole on side of ignition module assembly with a thin pick-type tool then slide the lock cylinder from the ignition housing.

    To install:

NOTE If you are installing a new lock cylinder, recoding will be required and a J 41340, Lock Cylinder Holding Fixture and Staking Tool will be required.

NOTE Ignition lock cylinder reads key cut position 1 through 9.
    1. Insert the appropriate tumbler (3) according to the key code into the corresponding tumbler ward.

Fig. Insert the appropriate tumbler according to the key code into the corresponding tumbler ward

    2. The tumblers will not immediately seat into position because the sidebar has been pre-assembled. The tumblers will have to be pushed past the sidebar with a small flat screwdriver or pocket knife.
    3. The tumbler springs (2) should then be inserted into the spring wells in the cylinder (4) where they will sit on top of the tumblers.
    4. The seal plate (1) will be installed and crimped.
    5. Insert the seal plate locator legs into the receptacle slots in the cylinder--seal plate will seat into position only when the two locator legs have been properly inserted into the receptacles on the cylinder.
    6. While holding the seal plate in position with the thumb, insert the key into the cylinder and watch for the side bar to drop. If the side bar does not drop, the lock is tumbled wrong and you need to start over.
    7. Ensure that the side bar does not drop on an angle. The side bar must be completely flush to the cylinder diameter.
    8. Stake (1) the two metal areas of the cylinder (2) directly over the seal plate legs with a hammer and punch or chisel.

Fig. Stake (1) the two metal areas of the cylinder (2) directly over the seal plate legs with a hammer and punch or chisel.

    9. Repeat this stake on the areas of the cylinder directly opposite of the first to stakes.
NOTE Actuator blade within the ignition module must be in ACC position to install the lock cylinder assembly. If rotated, reposition the actuator blade to the ACC position using needle nose pliers.
    10. Insert key into ignition lock cylinder and install the cylinder into the lock housing.
    11. Rotate the lock cylinder in the housing. Verify proper rotation.
    12. Install the steering column trim covers.
    13. Enable the SIR system.
    14. Connect the negative battery cable.

Water left in barrel (not the tumbler)

If you can't see any water and just hear it, this is completely normal. This is a front load washer and has a special cover of the inner tub basket. This cover contains some water that has been sealed in at the factory to keep the load balanced while it is spinning.
