I had it working for 30 minutes today before it stopped working again. same scenario 2 weeks ago, after lying face down on the floor for a week. maybe temperature related? Is there any known fix to this? and, is it even worth it try to repair it. i dont like messing with internal components. thanks

SOURCE: Acer AL1916W 19" problem

Hello mat78, Unfortunatelly the problem is hardware based. You will need to have the monitor repaired in a service center. Here's why: LCD/TFT monitors don't produce light themselves. They are composed by a matrix of transistors (TFT - thin film transistor) that have the property to reflect or allow some light (certain wavelenghts)to pass through them. They don't produce light by themselves. Instead there is a fluorescent tube (neon like) light inside the monitor and that's the light source used in order for you to see what's on the screen. A flourescent light is suposed to last pretty much, i don't think yours has a problem, you say it works for some seconds or so. Instead your problem is most probable with the inverter circuitry that powers on that light. It's a common problem among these types of monitors but in your situation i don't think it will be an expensive repair. In the case that the screen is dark (in a dark place you can't read or view anything on it) but if you apply light to it ( a flashlight or something) and you see something, then the problem is most likely to have occured with the invertor. Try to ask at a local service center for a repair, this shouldn't be an expensive procedure. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Menu randomly pops up while pushing no buttons....

It sounds like an issue with the power button board and I would certainly make use of the warranty option.

SOURCE: menu keeps popping up

Never a good idea to clean with any spray cleaner. The cleaner does get down in the button bar and cause corrosion and shorting along ribbon cable. Use screen wipes for computer monitors only on TV's and any type of monitors. You can remove the back of the case. And remove the button board and clean with a cue tip and alcohol along ribbon cable.

Brand new BenQ EW2730V not turning on after 30-40 minutes of use with the XBOX 360/PS3. Is it a feature or something because the power button is blinking orange?

Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
* Turn off the monitor
* Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
* Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
* Turn on the monitor
* The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background. If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective. Get it replaced

I have an Acer Aspire 3690 and the screen is out on it. When I turn it on I get a black screen that turns into vertical lines. I can't see the background pic or the icons. I can't navigate to...

Do you have access to an external monitor or LCD monitor - at work, a friend's or neighbor's? If the screen on the Acer is bad, then it should work okay on an external monitor (you may need to hit come combination keystrokes to switch to external monitor - look at the markings on your keyboard) - that'd be the easiest way; On the other hand, if both the laptop's LCD and external monitor shows junk, then most likely your systemboard is bad. My best guess would be a bad screen on your laptop.

Whatever is on your hard drive will, in all likelihood, be un-affected.

One of two monitors went blank. When I turned it

The problem can be the inverter board or worst case will be the lamps, you need to have spare lamps for testing, that is how I narrow down the problem to find out if the inverter is bad or bad lamps. see example here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

After riding my turns signals ,head n tail lights

Sounds like the battery is shorted. Heat is one of the worst enemies of any battery. On a Softail it's almost in an oven. The day was hot so the engine oil was hot as well. Since the battery sits inside the "horseshoe" oil tank, it is surrounded by hot oil trying to get rid of the heat.

Take your battery to the nearest auto parts house and have it tested. Usually this is a free service.

Monitor is a solid green color when computer is turned on

That's your desktop setting which you can change by going to the control panel, desktop, background, and then change the color or put whatever you have for a background. Also note the color and position buttons.
