You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You don’t have to bend up the electrode. HTH

SOURCE: I have a Rancher 55 18" with a new chain. Started

First thing you need to check is the cylinder.Take the spark plug ouy.use a flashlight and look down the hole towards the muffler side.If its scratched up afraid the motor is shot and will need to be rebuilt. If its not scratched up let me know on here. Then I will give you more things to check.

How to remove carb on 350 husqvarna chain saw

Remove the air box cover and remove the air filter. You will see 2 screws going into the carburetor. These 2 screws hold the carburetor onto the saw. You must use care (and take a couple pictures) to see how the linkage fits back onto the carburetor. You will also see the choke and kill button on the left hand side. Take you time and you should be fine. The throttle linkage is the hard part.

Rancher 55, big storm recently, using a lot. Quit

Check the condition of the fuel line from inside the tank to the carburetor. Check tightness of all screws on the carburetor body. If no help, disassemble the carburetor and check the condition of the pumper valves and diaphragms. If looks dirty, clean with spray carburetor cleaner and blow out with compressed air (don't use cleaner on any rubber or plastic parts). Remove the H and L needles for cleaning and air blast. Preset the needles 1-1/2 turns CCW from CW stops (lightly). If the rubber parts are stiff, re-kit the carburetor. After engine warm--up, set full throttle and adjust H for highest speed, but 4-stroking. It should run smoothly with a light load (cutting). Set L for smooth idle but rich enough to allow the engine to follow the throttle. Set idle speed just below chain movement. Hope this gets you going again.

What size file to sharpen chain for 55 rancher

It depends on the chain you have installed on the chainsaw. You can look at the numbers stamped on the drive link side of the cutting chain and it should have a 2 digit number that correlates to the size.

The factory chain supplied with the #455 rancher was a .325" pitch 3/8" chain.

Here's a link to the specs for your saw with some useful info

http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/products/sawing/chainsaws/455-rancher/#specifications

Hope you found this very helpful and best regards!
