AFAIK Acer aspire 5100 using Bison Webcam.

Uninstall your old webcam driver, download new driver from here :

choose bison webcam driver and after download, install it.

Reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.

- If I understand you correctly you install new windows like windows xp or Windows vista.

- To have it fix try to navigate under device manager and check if there's any bangs under device manager particularly webcam.

- If yes, please download the compatible version driver for the windows , You can download the driver under your support website. "Acer"

if its not being recognized by windows already, try gettign the drivers from Acer and installing it that way.

install your drivers brunella then do a windows update ignor when pop comes up says cant do it with the continue button hit continue on the driver install and do windows update

windows vista doesnt like the older equipment for some reason it doesnt work well with some new hardware just to let you know vista is still in its infancy stage getting better as its source and updates go along

First connect the cam and then insert the cd. Now open it in that click the setup and click next to continue to install.

Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering technology Acer E-recovery - choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say extracting) - once extracted - click Install - click Vista on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the right side of the screen, click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions.

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.
