My sanyo 42 tv model# dp42849 stopped working after a storm plugged it in after a week and it came on worked fine but I turned it off over night and it would not come on the power light turns on for 3 seconds than shuts off I unplugged it for a couple of hours and plug it back in and works fine same process over and over

Mine I will do this if the cable box is not turned on fist.

Find your TV model in the list, compare with the symptoms you have and if there is a match send the board for repair:

does the buttons on the TV work? If the buttons on the TV work, it is possible your IR board is defective

Sounds like an inverter problem. On some of these sets, the inverter and the power supply are on the same board. These boards tend to be quite pricey, $100 + range. I've worked on your particular model with the same problem, and it was a bad inverter/power supply board. I would recommend you get a diagnosis to be sure.

Sorry,big problems the main tv Tuner signal board have problems and it is dying.That the board,where the tv incommig broadcasting signal cable plug into it and all those external electronic devices plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish tv Tuner signal board for the replacement.

If sound stays on and doesn't goes off then you need the video logic main board, if the audio goes out, it maybe the power supply

Sounds like a loose connection to the display panel. Did you physicaly move it from the time it didnt work to the time it started working..

It is called "chassis" and is shown on the back of the TV on the label where the model number is shown.
