try updating the driver software.
you will need active sync to connect to win XP and windows mobile device centre for win vista and 7. you can learn more from here
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/howto/wp6/sync/prepare-to-sync-windows-phone-6-5-with-my-computer.aspx
Which Operating System are you using? Is it windows XP or VISTA? You need to download Microsoft ActiveSync in case using Windows XP from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync-download.mspx
and in case of windows VISTA, download Windows Mobile Device Center from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
hey.. hey.. if ur using Vista, then there is no need of Active Sync!! Go to Control Panel and check the Sync Center. This will help you in connectin your device to your PC.
with an USB-miniUSB cable torught active sinc ( windows XP ) or Sync Center (windows vista and windows 7). The main problem is that you need to install the windows mobile device center. On XP is easy ... insert the disc in youre CD drive and install the software. In Visla you will have to download the Windows Mobile Device Center from microsofts download center ( requires windows authentification and if youre windows is not licensed you will fail to authentificate and so to download the WMDC ) i will make a upload with the WMDC on filefactory so you could install it safely. Works in Vista 7 and XP but in XP you have to install ActiveSync first ( from the CD witch came with the phone.. if i remember right it's the "Getting Started" disc ) http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag7afgd/n/drvupdate-x86_exe this is where you can download the WMDC for PDAs
Hi. While holding power button, and pressing reset will do a hard reset to your PDA (reset the device to its factory default settings). So if your PDA is working well, don't do it. As for the syncronization with your Vista PC; Winodws XP uses the ActiveSync software for syncronization, and for Windows Vista, Microsoft developed a brand new syncronization software called "Windows Mobile Device Center". It can be downloaded here: (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-download.mspx). When you download/install this software to your PC, you should be able to connect your PDA to your PC without any problem, and definitely without changing any OS in your PDA or PC. Hope this helps.
Check with the HTC support center helpline or visit the nearest support center should have the contact numbers in the user manual "for the driver for vista". Also please show your phone the service center as there has been lots of patches for the models OS for correcting lots of problems which were present...should correct most of your problems and for sync try using bluetooh or if cable problem is preseistent after all the correction..don't waste time just sync using bluetooh, if not inbulit in your system by an additional bluetooh module hardly costs anything, works great and fast..have a nice day.
