Where does a little metal spring from the needle area come from and now will not self thread,? Ihave only had it 5 days. BrotherPe770

It will not self thread and looks like the attachment where you put the thread #7 is no longer attached properly.

SOURCE: Attaching walking foot

you probably purchased the incorrect walking foot for your specific machine. check and make sure if you have a high shank or a low shank....the way to determine if you have a low-shank is to measure the screw from the plate and look at the distance if it is 5/8 then you have a low, any higher about 1in. then you have a high shank, so you would purchase a foot depending on your shank.

SOURCE: Needle thread getting caught in bobbin are on Brother Cs-100

I don't know if this is any help, but I would suggest taking it in to a repair store. So here is a way to find places that repair brothers machines. The place near me has done a great job both times I've gone in. Also they usually don't charge for labor, just parts. If they charge for labor it probably won't be much.

SOURCE: needle clamp won't attach to needle bar

There is a set screw above the needle pin screw which tightens with an allen wrench--try that.

I'm not getting the thread to pick up

1. Always change your needle with a fresh one that is straight and in all the way in the right direction.
2. Look at the bobbin area. See if the bobbin tends to move slightly.
There is a little indented area that has a piece of metal pushed forward just enough to keep it from rotating. Don't make it too tight though.
3. Turn the hand wheel and watch if the movement of the bobbin catches the upper thread from the needle. The hook on the bobbin does this job. If it catches the thread from the upper thread it should cause the bobbin thread to go upwards.
4. Remember the piece of metal to keep the bobbin from rotating? If the thread gets stuck and won't go through you will need to pull it back a hair and retighten.
5. This should work unless there is a problem with timing.

Machine isn't sewing right. Underside thread is very loopy. Was sewing fine but thread jammed in bobbin area.

Remove all remnants of the thread from the bobbin area.
First thing first - thread inside bobbin should be tightly wound in. Insert bobbin into bobbin case and thread through slot and under the spring. Spring has small screw which regulates the tension. Hold the lot by thread like yo-yo and jerk a little down-up. It should drop just a little (not run down) - that is usually required bottom thread tension,
if not, regulate with the screw. Set top thread tension 3 and sew. If still looping under, increase the top tension higher till the looping disappears. Also try new needle.

Having problems with metallic thread breaking constantly. I have adjusted tension up and down. I am using the net over the thread as directed in them manual. The bobbin thread continues to show on

I'm not exactly familiar with your machine but... a few things you should know. 1. You need a metallic thread Needle. or at least one with a larger hole. 2. Check your bobbin carrier, if anything catches or jams between between the spring and the case it can loosen the bobbin tension and make the top show too much bobbin color. 3. If your bobbin spring becomes grooved from the wear of the thread... same thing. 4. If your spring and everything is ok and clean... tighten the tiny screws to tighten the bobbin tension some.

Brother vx-950 sewing machine

Place thread spool on the spool pin at back right top of machine. From there, thread through 1) rear thread guide (little hook), 2) front thread guide (front hook), 3) down and up through the thread tension dial from right to left so that thread picks up the thread spring check (the little spring on the left of the tension dial). 4) Through the thread take-up-lever, from right to left (the little lever that goes up and down). 5) Through the thread guard and guides (one on the front, one on the needle arm). 6) Through the needle, front to back. Good luck johntrev800 (at) yahoo.com
