It is a KCM111OB model Kitchen Aid. It just started doing this. It starts to heat and brew then just stops. I'm wondering if this is a heating element. I'm puzzled and don't know if I should trash it and purchase a new one. I hate too as this has been a good coffee maker. Dave [email protected]

I haven't been able to find the base heating element for sale anymore. Best I can suggest is finding one on ebay that still has a working base heater but the water heater no longer works.

This is my second dcc-2000 with the same problem. I tossed the first one and in less than a year the second one exhibits the same issue. I called the Customer Service (1-800-726-0190). The rep told me to unplug the unit for at least 2 hours adding that this would let the system "reset itself". He then instructed me to run vinegar and water through it to clean the pumping system. I am doubtful about this solution but the rep assured me it would be replaced if I still have problems. It's worth calling CS to get it replaced, however, it seems that this model is flawed by design.

THis sound is usually caused by the water being low in the tank. This can be because the machine is left on for long periods without being used. If this is not the case, then it would probably be your heating element getting small holes in it.

Sounds like it is broken. Should be under the manufacturer's warranty. Go to the store and get it exchanged. Or contact KitchenAid.
