Hi, thanks for the solution Technosavy, but upon editing the registry, to enumerate the iee1934, I still could not enable Vista to recognise the DVC.
I think this particular model does not have the option to download videos via USB or firewire, although both the ports are available on the camera. Upon connecting the DVC to vista it does get recognised as a Webcam though.
Now my only hope is to try connecting the cam to a Xp version to see if it is recognised.

The Panasonic NV gs 15 can only be used as a webcam with the USB cable.
You need a 1394 firewire / DV cable to transfer the video to your pc.

You are going to have to check that your firewire is being seen by windows 7 first of all. If not you will need to rectify that.
When you do get it to recognize it, here is a link for an update to the program that came with your camcorder for it to work with Windows Vista but it should also work for Windows 7.

Disconnect the camera from computer, remove any software that might have installed and restart the computer.
Go to Panasonic's website and download the latest software that matches your camera model and operating system.
Install all of the software and don't connect the camera until the software asks you to or after you have completed the software installation.

Okay, it is a pain in the neck, but it will allow you to get your videos off of the GS300 and into a usable .avi format...
If you go to the Panasonic Website, it will give you an option to download two video editing programs. Movie Studio and SweetMovieLife. Download SWEETMOVIELIFE, the other program is very limiting, but SweeMovieLife will capture the video and save it as an .avi file and you can then movie it into a better editing program such as Camtasia or Microsoft Movie Maker. It adds a few extra steps to the process, but will at least allow you to use the GS300 in the Windows 7 Environment until Microsoft wakes up and comes up with a fix for this extremely annoying issue!!! P.S. If you try to use MovieStudio, it saves the file as an .hap file and does not give you another option. None of my "real" video editing programs recognize that extension. Personally, I think the program was pretty useless.
