To get to World 4: Beat the Desert World Castle (World 2 Castle) as Mini Mario  (Monster is Sand Monster)
To get to World 7: Beat the Ice World Castle (World 5 Castle) as Mini Mario    (Monster is Baby Piranha)

Beat the last boss in World 2 and World 5 as mini-mario. To get the mini mushroom, just go to any red house that appears and get the correct timing jump to get the mini mushroom. Better to save before doing this just incase you do not get the right timing.

I am playing New Super Mario Bros and cannot access World 4 or 7 - I beat the Castle and it just stops there for World 3 and does not even create a new path for World 4, same thing with 7 completed World 6...
You need to get the mini mushroom's in each castle and beat the boss of each castle while staying mini for both world 4 and 7 to be unlocked.

Worlds 4 and 7
for world 4and7 you have to be mini on world 2 then defet the boss on that like mini and there is world 4 on the map (do the same on world 5 for 7)
