Unfortunately there are no lights on the keyboard, which is ridiculous if you ask me!

You can however download a driver from the Dell website that will add a Cap Lock, Num Lock and Scroll Lock notification to the taskbar area.

You can get the driver here.

Those "lock" lights are for the NUMLOCK, CAPS LOCK, and SCROLL LOCK features. With each press of the NUM LOCK key, the "9" should cycle on and off. With each press of the CAP LOCK key, The "A" light should cycle on and off, and so on.

Dell Vostro 1400 beeps when booting up. All media lights, caps lock and num lock lights light, then go off. Keyboard doesn't work, nor do any of the media buttons work. Mouse works fine.

The problem is in the Keyboard of your laptop some keys are pressed or becomes faulty , change the keyboard

Dell Studio 1737 with Back lit keyboard but Cap Lock Doesn't Light, replaced Keyboard less than 3 months ago, light worked then and went out just recently.

I'd try a different keyboard and see if the caps light works on that - so you can confirm whether it's the keyboard, or computer.

Where is the light indicating that the caps are on?

It is usually a little A in a padlock. the easiest check is turn them on then off and see which light changes.

There is no light to indicate the caps lock is on

May jusy be a keyboard fault if so replace the keyboard. Also obviously you can see when you are typing in CAPITALS
