Where do I plug the blue cord into a Dell desktop monitor circa 2006? I think the cord may be in the wrong place and I am struggling to remove it. If it is correct, then something else is wrong.

SOURCE: 17 inch dell flatscreen monitor stops in its tracks

Sounds like most of the monitor's circuitry is working except for the backlight. If you place a flashlight on the screen you may be able to see your desktop items in the light ring around it. This doesn't fix the problem but it will tell what is wrong. The price of some monitors is low enough now to make this one not worth spending on for repairs. You could sell it as broken on ebay and use the proceeds towards one of the new ones.

SOURCE: something is wrong with the power cord where it

You may be able to re-solder the connection to the plug on the board-probably wasn't soldered correctly at the factory.

Have a dell 8200 desktop with an LG tv monitor attached and when I try to boot keeps going to power save mode

You have the wrong cable from the pc to the monitor.Look in the back of monitor and you will see a cord with a blue connector and one with a white connector.
Try the one not in use.If that does not fix it your gpu does not support the monitor.

Pc connention

sometimes graphics cards are only "clipped" in place internally, it sounds like the card is now not seated fully down in it's slot, probbably all that needs to be done is the card just needs reseating into it's slot, this can be done easily, however opening your computer can invalidate your warranty
