Prints everything OK but has started missing random lines or portions of lines in the final printing. There is no problem when printing from the platen. Only occurs when printing documents from pc and only has problem with some documents.

Clean the printhead, then print a demo sheet.
If the Demo print is bad- IE: no black, blurry print etc., then you may need to replace the printhead:

SOURCE: Kodak AiO home Center will not open
My son has the same model and issue. I had him go to http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/downloads/dln_ekn034524.jhtml?pq-path=12667 and get the latest software and firmware update.
Make sure to use the dropdown to select your operating system. The page defaults to XP.
The software is a new version of the AIO home center.
The firmware installer updates the physical printer. Before you run this program be sure to read and understand the instructions.
If both ink cartridges have good levels of ink, and you keep getting the clean the print head issue after updating both the software and the firmware, then call Kodak support. 1-800-421-6699, 7 A.M. to midnight Eastern time, 7 days a week. They will ask you if you put in new cartridges and installed the updates for the firmware and the AiO centre software. Be patient. They will get a solution for you.
SOURCE: Kodak printer 5500 will not print in black
I had the same problem and wasted money on 2 new cartridges before finding the answer on several blogs. Call Kodak Tech Support. In this case they are very good. Tell them the problem, they walk you through some steps and then give up. They will then send you out a new print head (a cheap and disposable device). I thought about buying another one for the next time things go bad but I can't find a source. They send it in 3-5 days, free. I think Kodak is embarrassed about their bad system (printheads should not go bad so fast!)
SOURCE: Kodak Printer will not Print Red Ink
I have problems printing red ink too. What can I do to resolve this and how can I purchase a new Printhead to see if this is the problem?
SOURCE: I have deep cleaned print head several times.
For pavster:
There may be multiple reasons why your prints are blank. To resolve this problem, we have an easy Step-by-Step Solutions and Repair tool.
Within the tool, select Print quality, then Blank prints. .

For nana3511:
Clean the printhead, then print a demo sheet.
Is the Demo printout giving the same result?
If so, you may need to replace the printhead. This is a very common problem with this model.
You have to contact Kodak to be sent a new printhead to fix the problem. You click through the support on Kodak and then they automatically send out a new print head. To get the link to this on-line support chat with the live tech support and they can direct you where to go to find this solution.
Kodak Live phone support is available in English and Spanish at 1-800-421-6699, 9 A.M. to midnight Eastern time, 7 days a week.
