If strips appear on pages scanned using the document feeder, then probably the glass strip under the feeder has some speckles on it. Please note it's the strip on the leftmost side, not the big glass plate used to lay documents flat.
Commonly in offices the glass gets contaminated by white correction fluid used on a document and not dried sufficiently before scanning.

If strips appear when scanning from the flat glass bed, I'm afraid the scanning head is dirty or defective.

If this is happening only when you are scanning pages loaded in the ADF (not directly to the scanner's glass), please try to clean the narrow piece of glass located at the left of the scaner's glass. Usually, any trace of ink or dirt located on that strip of glass results in vertical lines in the scanned image.

Try cleaning the rollers. Usually you have to remove the cartridge to get to the rollers that moves the paper.

Clean the ADF roller and the far left hand side of the glass, the small strip outside the 'main' panel.

SOURCE: A line appears down the length of the page on all copies, printing and scanning. How do I get rid of the line?

All you need to do is clean the top feeder which opens into two parts. make sure you clean the black rollers as well as the small strip of glass you will find when you open the second part of the top feeder . don't be afraid to pull open the top feeder it won't break

Horizontal line on printed page

When you use the flatbed the copy is perfect because the ccd sensor is under the glass cover and obviously is free form dust/ dirt.
On the other hand if you use the feeder the ccd sensor is located in between the roller assembly (not sure exactly for this model).
This means that the page is scanned by the ccd in the feeder, any dirt on the ccd will appear as a black line. I assume that you are feeding papers from the side and not from the top that is why you get a horizontal line.

A quick test to see if the ccd sensor is dirty is to feed the paper from the top side to the feeder. If you get a vertical line it is a proof that your ccd sensor needs to be cleaned.
The worst case is that the sensor in the feeder assembly has a tiny spot that is damaged and it is causing the black line.
So , first try the test, then open the feeder assembly, locate the ccd and clean it. Hope that this helps.

HP Laserjet M2727nf Mfp Printer scan to e-mail first page correct but other pages come out with lines

First print a test page out from a computer. If this has lines then its either a dirty drum in the toner cartridge or a bad fuser. IF the test print is fine then you just need to clean the glass over the scanner.

My HP deskjet 2050 all-in-one printer only shoots out blank paper and won't print. It used to say there was no paper in it, which there was. It scans & prints just fine - just won't print...

Any error messages on the printer digital screen or the desktop? I take it the "The ink is fine" means that there is ink in the cartridges!

Try a test print via the Control Panel> Printers and Faxes> properties > Print test page.

Hi I use XP, printing always worked fine. Suddenly now the bottom part of certain lines is not printed. Even if I print a test page the bottom quarter of "Congratulations" will not be printed....

Hello, might be that your black cartridge is starting to run out, something not dissimilar is happening on my HP deskjet 845c at the moment.

Scanner leaves three vertical lines on scanned page

Hello,

A dirty glass base can cause ‘spots’ or blemishes to appear on your final printout. Additionally, if you had some sort of opaque liquid that may have transferred on to the glass base from a previous operation. But the majority of the unwanted vertical lines are generally caused by either a dirty or damaged print roller or faulty LEDs in the Scanner Module.

To separate one from the other you have to check the following:

Do you only see the lines with a Scan operation?
Do your print jobs print fine without any unwanted lines?

If you only see the unwanted lines during a Scan operation, then most likely you have a fault/dirty/obstructed LED module.

If you see the unwanted lines with all print operations (Scan, Print and Copy), then you most likely have a worn out, damaged or dirty Print Roller.

Hope this helps…

Gray backround

Does your scanner software give the option to choose different modes...grayscale, color, black & white?? This sounds like it's scanning in grayscale....if you can change it to black & white, the background should remain white.

Black lines

Not sure what you have tried but if there are no lines when printing but there when scanning there is something on the scanner. Could be something as small a single dot of dirt and it will put a line down the whole page. Try cleaning the glass.

HORIZONTAL Lines on faxed/scanned pages.

I've seen this before. Since the printer portion is working fine that points to the scanner mechanism as the culprit. There are two things I have seen cause this. 1) If the line is a perfect rectangle all the way to the edge of the page then the light bar itself is dying and there isn't much you can do to save the unit. Send it in for warranty repair if you have the option. 2) If the line is more like a skid mark like you mentioned, then the paper that is being scanned is not pressing up fully against the light bar. Not enough light is bouncing off the page and the scanner can't read it well. This can also be caused by a roller not feeding correctly and then bunching up the paper a little bit. I would check the rollers for wear or something being off center. This can sometimes be caused if the machine has ran a high volume or thick paper. I would really think the cause would be one of these two since you are getting the marks at odd intervals, if the intervals were regular it could *possibly* be the drum but as I stated before, with the print function working right, I doubt it.
