SOURCE: Sound cuts out for long periods of time

I've just been having this problem (sound cutting out every now and then) and decided to get round it by plugging in some speakers to the headphone socket. While doing it I noticed that the in-built speakers would sprang back into life. Since doing this and getting the sound back I've noticed it hasn't cut out again.

I think there might be a problem in some units with the bit that cuts off the in-built speakers when you plug in external speakers. My proposed solution is to prod a mini-jack from anything into the appropriate socket (on the left of the TV) and wiggle it around until the sound springs back.

SOURCE: My samsung syncmaster 940mw will not power up?

Hi
I've had the same problem. I've managed to locate and remove the fuse but can't read the writing on it. Any ideas what I need to replace it with? And where's the best place in UK to buy the spares?
Thanks

That model used the same power supply that the Samsung 940mw uses and when the capacitors go out you get sound but no picture just like you are getting. The repair is easy, you just need to replace the bad capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a link to the repair guide for the 940mw that should help you get your 910 back going, same power supply so the same repair.

On and off switch not working

Hello Michael,

The most common problem with the Samsung 940MW units that don't turn on is a failure of the power supply board. There are parts called capacitors that fail which in turn causes the power supply to not startup correctly so the monitor never powers up. Here is a link to a repair guide that should get you back watching tv and using the monitor in no time.

Samsung SyncMaster 940MW screen problem

from what it sounds like Tom is that you have a heating problem. As soon as it warms up your monitor goes black. First I would Shut it down for a couple of hours. Unhook the power cord and let it completely cool down. Some monitors have a temperature breaker. When temp reaches a point higher than the set breaker it will shut off or power down. After I would say 2-3 hrs of cooling power it up and see what happens. If after a certian amount of time it does it again you have a over heat problem. If that happens again go to your favorite search engine and enter syncmaster 940mw support. Goto the manufactures web site and find your model. You may be able to find a solution to the over heat there. There is also a possibility there was a recall on that particular model for a overheat problem.
