Whirlpool Super Capacity 465. The self-cleaning oven has worked fine up until last week. There oven was here when I moved in, so I don't have a troubleshooting book.
Anyway, when I place the self-cleaning oven on, it will heat up for about 30 minutes and then the F5 error comes on. The oven will not open, unless I unplug the oven.
Does anyone know what the F5 error message means? Or, better yet, how to fix this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My oven is dirty. :)
Sharyl
I used the self cleaning feature, now the door will not open, even if I unplug the oven

I researched your question regarding error code FSE1. I could not find a response regarding a self cleaning oven. If you will provide the model number on the below listed website under "cooking" you may get a detailed response. http://producthelp.whirlpool.com
It seems that a general "fix" for error codes is to got to your electrical panel and shut off the breaker controlling your device for 1 minute. This resets the device and will reset the error code. (May not fix your issue but will reset code.)
Your manual should have a list of error codes to help you resolve this issue. If you have misplaced the manual, you can also download one for your device from Whirlpool's website as well.
If all else fails here are the U.S. and Canadian telephone numbers under "Contact us". I do not know if this is a pay line or Whirlpool will answer your questions and attempt to resolve at no cost.
Hello Michelle!
Crazy to hear, but this is actually a touchpad failure.

HI. This code is a good indication of a separated key pad ribbon or the actual key pad may be damaged. Use the procedure below to isolate the culprit.
1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board). 2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).
Hi Thanks for using FixYa. This error means that

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...
Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused. You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.
If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display. This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.
Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.

HELLO, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FIND YOUR CIRCUIT BREAKER BOX AND LOOK IN IT FOR THE BUTTON THAT SAYS KITCHEN. TURN THE KITCHEN POWER OFF FOR 30 MINUTES THEN TURN IT BACK ON. ONCE YOU TURN IT BACK ON THE OVEN SHOULD RESET ITS SELF. TRY THAT AND IT SHOULD HELP.
facing the front of the oven (while off) put your hand along the back of the oven toward the top left side. there should be a techinical spec sheet with a list of what the codes mean and possable solutions.
