Frigidaire stack dryer was squeaking so bad that I decided to take it apart to see why - noticed it was the socket at the back .. I oiled it, put it back together but my husband and I cannot get the 3 screws at the back of the inside of the drum to screw back in without getting stuck. We tried the dryer and hurrah no squeaks but a thudding sound cuz the bearings are off :( why won't the screws go back?!

Squeaking frigidaire stacking dryer

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

Hi,

Sounds like your motor and/or pulley assembly are bad. Try turning the drum by hand. If it turns with some effort then you may have a drum bearing going bad. Does the squeaking sound start right away? Or does it start when the dryer warms up? If so then the bearing is going. If you can get to it spray WD40 for a quick fix.

The dryer squeaks loudly

The dryer has been over loaded too often. Try to determine if squeak is from the front or back. The felt pad dirty. If it is from the bottom, then the tension roller is binding and needs lubrication.

Squikie dryer. How do i try to fix it?

Most times it is a worn out idler wheel (the wheel that keeps tension on the drive belt) accessible through a small panel on the back of the machine. This is actually the only repair you can do from the back.
You can oil it but it will squeak again in a few hours or days depending on how much you use the machine.
Good luck

DRYER SQUEAKS REALLY BAD UNTIL WARMED UP

I took apart the dryer, cleaned and greased the bearing that had no grease left at all(therefore I assumed no easy movement) and it worked.
