There maybe a reset on it, You would have to have a schematic of circuit board. Check the manufacturer website, they may have it posted or maybe a parts diagram.
Wiring diagrams haven't been available for openers in years. If you are having a problem why don't you post it along with the make and model number and we will help you fix it.
The manufacturer has never put out a schematic for these things so the only test is if it works or not. It became cheaper to replace rather than repair many years ago. It would be fun though if the information was around.
Remove the cover and I am sure you will find the gear is stripped. The part number for the gear is 41A2817 and is available at Sears or any garage door service company. It comes with instructions.
