You need to check the computers device manager and see if you have any warnings in it and if do install the needed drivers.

The GE X500 is a camera, not a battery charger. If you want to use rechargeable batteries then you must charge them outside the camera. Chargers for AA rechargeable batteries should be available at just about any department, electronics, or office-supply store.

Don't try to recharge nonrechargeable alkaline or lithium batteries.

That is correct the battery must be high grade to run the camera since current demands are higher than normal.

Remove the battert from the camera and charge the battery with the mains battery charger that came with the camers.
