SOURCE: How to stop IE8 from hijacking my homepage

Uninstall "Bing" search engine from "Add/Remove". Then Reset your IE8 back to default settings from the IE 'Tools' ->"Internet Options". Then in the "General" set your homepage back to Google and click OK. Resart your IE8.

If it doen't work, download this utility "HijackThis" run and delete the IE start page, and perform the above again.

Hope it helps.

How do i get rid of bing

Bing is a search web engine; there are many others like, google, yahoo, duckduckgo and such. What you need to do is set some other search web engine (as I had mentioned) as your default in the web browser (other than Bing)

How to stop BING from being the default search engine in IE8.

Microsoft has made it prgressively harder to install Google as the default search engine in a concerted effort to force the use of BING on IE8. Once only a single step, setting Google as the default search engine now can take as many as eight steps which is why I personally use Firefox or Chrome. If you're one of the few whose workplace still forces them to use IE, here's how to at least remove BING from being the default search, every time IE8 is opened.
  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click on the triangle next to the magnifying glass located to the right of the search bar.
  3. Select Find more providers
  4. Select Google; often they hide it on the second page, but it's still there.
  5. Click on the triangle next to the magnifying glass located to the right of the search bar.
  6. Now select manage search providers
  7. Click Google and then select, "Set as Default".
  8. Click on the two BINg links and remove them both.

I want to go back to google and google + instead of bing which popped up and I did not want it

To make Google your default search engine, in Chrome, click the three bars to the far right of the Chrome browser, click Settings, Set the programs you want to run as your Home Page, removing Bing, then click "Manage Search Engines", and get rid of the engines you don't want to keep by clicking the X when you hover over them, and click "Make default" on the one you prefer. Also remove Bing from "Programs and Features" within the Control Panel. Other browsers have a similar way to change search engine preferences: sometimes by an icon next to the Search box that lets you "Manage" them.

Sometimes when you download a program, or an update for a program, there will be a box/button to add Bing as your search engine, and maybe a toolbar too. In the future, always look at the different prompts that pop up and deselect the buttons for such extras.

How is an area internet search engine placed by me in my site? Can there be html-code? Do I've to endure advertisements?

Please be aware that any browser or search engine for free, will send you advertisements. That is the only way they can offer you free service.
I don't know what search engine will send less advertisements, as soon as you pay for it. But in the endmost "free" providers of e-mail, browsers and search machines will scan everything you send out to the net and try to send you adds.

Bing is the default search engine for Internet Explorer. If you need to keep Google search as your default, then go to Internet Explorer settings and make sure that Google has the word "default" beside it.

Babylon has become my default search engine and I cannot change it back to Google (what is the difference between a search engine and a browser?

Hello,

A browser is the program you are using for browsing the internet. Examples of browsers are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Search engine are the website or add-ons to a web browser that you use to search the internet. Examples of search engines are Google, Yahoo and Bing.

Please indicate the browser you are using so I can instruct you how to change back your search engine to Google.

How do i convert from bing back to google. I have Windows XP

In Internter Explorer look at the top right search area and you'll see the Bing logo near a magnifying glass icon, Further to the right straight up from the scroll bar, you'll see another magnifying glass icon (smaller size) and a drop down arrow to its right. Left-click the drop-down arrow and selet Google. The Google name should now replace the Bing logo for search default. On Firefox it's essentially the same process, but the drop-down arrow is on the left of the search window and to the left of the search engine icon.

I get oops! This link appears broken. Happens with Google and Google Chrome. Could it be a virus? I also cannot search msn.com using Bing?

No, it is probably not a virus. Links are addresses for other pages that may not be typed correctly, or the web site/page was moved or no longer exists. (See below for clarification on unexpected results.) If you use MS Explorer, it allows you to choose primary search engines. After updating Explorer, you can keep Google as primary, but Bing will be easily accessed by clicking on the Google Icon in the search box. A menu will drop down and show Bing as an option. Also, you should be able to type Bing into any search engine and search from the Bing homepage. If you are clicking on a bing search on the MSN home page and being blocked, I'll betcha Microsoft would love to know that. Lastly, there is such a thing as Browser Hijackers. If you click on something or suddenly find yourself in an unexpected place after using a trusted search engine, that would be a hint. The solution is to keep all software updated to avoid lapses in security that allow Bugs into your system.
