I have a powershot A1000IS and my computer recognizes my camera is connected to it, but when it asks what program I want to use, there are no programs in the list for me to choose from. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software from the CD that came with my camera, but no luck. I have followed all the instructions from the manual, but nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated!

Jackboy is right... make sure the camera is not in picture taking mode but picture display mode.. (usually a small "play" icon)

Make sure the camera is set to upload.
If the compter knows it is there- this must mean the camera is not set to upload.

My camera when I go to down load it says "there are no new images". There are old images but i ant figure out how to re-down load them.

Click and open My Computer on Windows system, connect camera and turn it on. After a while, the computer will recognize the camera, a camera icon will show up, click and open on this camera icon, and you’ll see all the pictures there.
You can see more details here How to download pictures without camera driver

Camera wont read SAVED SCANNED jpeg images on SD card

The reason is that the images were not created on the camera in question. Each camera model saves pictures on a card in a proprietary naming protocol, and if your images do not adhere to this, they cannot be recognised by the camera

Rotated image

The auto-rotate sensor is probably faulty. Believe it's located near the base of the A95's swivel LCD, and goes bad with time from the repeated opening and closing of the LCD. But it's really not worth the effort to try to fix, as most good free photo editing software includes a photo rotate function if desired. The freeware Irfanview is an example (www.irfanview.com).

If you can live without Auto Rotate (I never use it), turn on your camera and press the menu button. Then select the second "Tools" tab. Then look down through the Tools list for the "Auto Rotate On/Off" selection. Select OFF.
