SOURCE: Someone stuck a conventional driver bit into the
VERY GENTLY. . . . use a flat tip screw driver to try to push the collar forward so that it will release the bit. You may need to gently hold the handle of the impacter in a table vice or something like that to steady the tool, then push forward on the collar with a screwdriver and use a pair of pliers to pull outward on the bit at the same time.
Or instead of a screwdriver try vicegrips that are adjusted loose enough to just lock but not squeeze when closed. Pliers that grip too tightly may bend the collar and keep it from being able to slide forward to release bits.
