Fax Transmission not printing fully

Dear expert

I have brother fax 3290. The fax transmission report suddenly stopped printing part of the fax message as it used to do before. Any help please? I set up to "image.on" several times as advised by brother technical expert, but it does not work. HOW CAN I SET THE MACHINE TO FACTORY SET UP as it may be the only solution as I suspect there is sum conflict with cover print.

There are two possible solutions. Is the machine sitting on top of metal? The machine will send black pages when there is static charge. You can put a rubber mat under the machine or use a static guard. The second solution is to put the machine in maintenance and reset the scanner. Unplug the machine, put your finger on the menu key first and then re-plug the line while holding the menu key, in about 30 seconds all the lights will flash and the display will say maintenance. Release the menu Key and press 55 and this will reset the scanner; if scanner error comes up the machine will need to be serviced. Press stop and then 99 this will exit you out of maintenance. If the machine does not have an error try making a copy of blank sheet of paper and see if there is any improvement. As a routine clean the scanner glass with soft lint free cloth and isopropyl alcohol also.

SOURCE: Transmission Verification Report

HI Shelia. THere is a button marked as "function" on your fax machine and got to "set up". Press that and select the "print out" group. When you get in there you will see "reports"... select that and it will let you get into your reports mode. Make sure you have transmission turned off. You can set it up to print out every 50 faxes...that seems to work best for most people. You may have to dig around in those menus...but its in there. I just don't have one sitting in front of my right now. If you still can't find it, email me back and I will look monday when I am back at the shop.

It sounds like the CIS (scanner) has failed in both machines. Its no generally not a common problem. I would change one every six months if I was lucky.

It may point to something in your environment. I have have seen rust build up on the contacts of the scanner cause this problem. So if you have high moisture or are close to the ocean this maybe a problem.

Fax transmission reports

What you are explaining should work. If you need prior activity reports from previous faxes, you can press Function then 2 (Act. Report)

I think you might need to press Function, then 7 then 1

From the manual:

Transmission Verification (Xmit) Report You can use the Xmit Report as proof that you sent a fax. This report lists
the time and date of transmission, and whether the transmission was successful.

When the feature is OFF, the report is printed automatically only if an error occurred during transmission. If the report indicates NG, send the document again. If the report indicates you should check the readability of certain pages, resend those pages.
If you typically send multiple faxes to the same destinations, you may need a reminder to identify each fax transmission. You can select OFF+IMAGE or ON+IMAGE to print a portion of the first page of the fax message on the report.

1 For the FAX, press Function , 7 , 1 .
For the MFC, press Function , 1 , 7 , 1 .
2 Press or to select OFF, OFF+IMAGE, ON or ON+IMAGE and press Set .
3 Press Stop to exit.

Hope this helps you.

Hi could you tell me how to print the report for sending please to keep as proof to a number it was sent

Customizing the Transmission Verification Report You can use the Transmission Report as proof that you sent a fax. This report lists the time and date of transmission and whether the transmission was successful (OK). If you select On or On+Image, the report will print for every fax you send. If you send a lot of faxes to the same place, you may need more than the job numbers to know which faxes you must send again. Selecting On+Image or Off+Image will print a section of the fax's first page on the report to help you remember. NOTE:When the Verification Report is turned Off or Off+Image, the Report will only print if there is a transmission error, with NG in the RESULT column. 1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 4, 1. 2 Press ? or ? to select Off+Image, On, On+Image or Off. Press Menu/Set. 3 Press Stop/Exit.

HOW CAN I STOP THE MACHINE FROM PRINTING AN ERROR REPORT AND WASTING A PAGE OF RIBBON

The brother fax machine will always print out a transmission report when there is a failure to send a fax.

There is no way to turn this feature off.
The closest option to this is turning transmission reports off, but this will still print out a message when the fax does not go through properly.
