How do I stop a blinking light on phone, after all messages are erased ?

Although you have no messages on your answering machine, there's a chance your phone service has voicemail set up on your line.  A call will automatically go to voicemail if you're currently on a call and another incoming call comes in and you fail to answer.  Check with your phone line provider to see what options have been put in place on your line.  I'm willing to bet you have a voicemail message.  The phone will continue to blink as long as there's a message that's been unheard.

You forgot to supply a model number, but is this a cordless with an answering machine or did the message light blink when you had messages from the phone company provided voice mail?

If it's the former, pressing the play button and/or holding down the ERASE button will make the messages disappear.

If it's the latter, here's where the fun begins. Message lamps are lit from a signal generated from the phone line. Stutter dial tone is usually the cause, and it could be just because you have a feature enabled. I think the cadence of the call forwarding dial tone is enough to set off MW, but I'm not there to hear it :-)

Try unplugging the phone completely, then plug it in without the outside line. I'm guessing the display will tell you there's no outside line, but what does the message waiting light do? Then plug in the line and see if it lights immediately or after some delay. It may test the line as soon as you plug it into the wall and be hearing the funny dial tone.

Do you have a base and have you checked and deleleted the messages on the base? If you have a base that has an answering machine in it it won't stop blinking until you have erased the messages on the base as well. I would start with that first, but I'm unsure what type of phone you have.

The blinking LED also indicates a missed call. From the main stand-by screen; Press the up arrow (which says CID short for Caller Identification), then menu. You should now be in the call list. Scroll through the list making sure to view all calls with the word NEW next to them. You can also press menu in the call list then choose "delete all" to erase the entire list.

I had this problem and finally found a number for Eschelon telecom (763 745 8000). This is what they had me do. Press the Speaker button and then enter 7732. This cleared the blinking light and inmail message. This happens when you receive an internal call and someone leaves you a message to call them back. Still can't figure out how to listen to the message. But this cleared the blinking light.

I had the same problem. After about 45 minutes on the phone with tech support (while they gathered my personal info) they finally advised me to reset phone to defaults. Assholes. This erased all of my setup info I had entered into the phone.

The new message LED on the handset flashes when you have new messages in your
answering system. The LED stops flashing when all new messages are played back.

3) To delete all messages, press delete messege in standby mode. Press delete
messege again after the announcement "To delete all messages, press delete
again."
When you try to delete all messages without first listening to your new messages,
you hear several short beeps followed by an announcement "Please playback all
messages." This protects you from accidentally erasing messages you have not yet
reviewed.
Important:
When you press delete messege, you are permanently deleting the message. Once
deleted, the message cannot be replayed or retrieved.
