SOURCE: Scroll Function Doesn't Work

Just a followup to my June 27th post: I always use a mouse. The last two times the scrolling problem occurred, I tried using the touchpad to move the cursor to the scroll bar, then clicking the touchpad button as if selecting that position--and the scrolling problem disappeared for that session. I didn't have to reboot.

SOURCE: Schematic for Lenovo T61

Idon't know of any source for any of the mother boards. Part of this is due to the extreme complexity. I would be happy to even find parts layout and/or block diagrams for these critters but have yet to find any. The best that I can do for you (or me!) is to point you towards a copy of the maintenance manual. Let me know if that will help you.
Thanks!
Ron

SOURCE: MISSING DRIVER LENOVO T61

Hi there.
Go here for the "chipset" or "intel AMT" drivers, what you could do is download all of them so you have a back up of drivers needed (working on the assumption you are using XP)

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

SOURCE: lenovo t61 shut down w/out warning. Could it be

When the laptop is conected to the mains adapter and it shuts down for no reseason and you can boot up again after a period, it would indicate that you could have an overheating problem.
Check the fan to see if it spins freely and there are no dust clogging the fan and heatsink assemble, remove and vacuum the dust, if the fan is faulty, replace it.

SOURCE: Lenovo T61 Thinkpad not booting up

Hi ,

Did you install any new hardware and after that your system is not booting look at that and also try to check the condition of the memory if any latch or something is damaged.Try if you can log into safe mode as when the system boots press or Hold F8 . It can also be due to system getting corrupted. Also try the Last known good configuration option to see if your laptop functions. for this too press F8 and select and let me know.

Regards.

T61 won't go past the Microsoft loading screen

Press F8 during boot, and load Safe Mode. A program may be preventing a proper startup.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig > Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running.

This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when you initiate.

Keyboard on laptop is locked

Keyboard is locked? No keys work or are you saying the Mouse and Touchpad is locked?

Try booting up in Safe Mode and see if it is still happening.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn itback on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFEMODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal.Sometimes a virus hijacks the keyboard or mouse. If any of the above did not solve your problem then run a virus scan.

Green flickering squares when i turn on my laptop

Something's wrong with the display driver or the display card. You can try opening up the T61. The contact on the display chip or the display connector is probably corroded. Try pressing them a bit (not to hard). if it's the display connector, try removing it and placing it back. I've had this problem before with some other notebook. It's ok when in safe mode because safe mode doesn't use the higher display functions.

Reset factory password on t61 lenovo

password for what? bios or windows?
if it's the windows password, press the f8 key before windows starts and choose safe mode, choose administrator for the username and then go to user accounts and remove the password for your account.
if it's the bios password, you have to strip the laptop and pull the bios battery on the system...it looks like a large watch battery but becarefull not to break anything.
