The cover of the V600 scanner is also pretty straightforward to take apart and clean. The screws to take out are on the underside of the cover and there's one on the back. Once those are out it's pretty easy to separate the two parts.

The thing that has the light(s) in it will swing up while staying connected to the belt that drives it, usually, But even if it comes off the belt, it's pretty easy to put it back on. The scanner seems to calibrate it's position, so you need not worry about getting it re-attached in exactly the right position. I've done this a few times and it always worked just fine afterwards.

Cleaing the inside of the cover is particular important if you live where roaches are a problem. Roaches just love to nest inside this scanner, and can easily crawl in through the holes in the cover. I've covered most of those holes with tape, but the holes where the hinges are are more problematic. I've stated storing the scanner in a roach-proff box between sessions.

This is a FANTASTIC scanner - it does a superb job scanning medium format film.

Cleaning the glass is rather simple. Take the 2 screws under the cover out. Now gently lift the top part of the scanner (some force may be needed). Then the scanner is in 2 parts and the glass can be cleaned inside and outside with a wet wipe glass cleaning pad. Dry the glass with a towel and inspect the glass with a lamp, that no cleanser remains are left. Now install the scanner in reverse order.

For your information, Perfection 660 DOES NOT Have ANY SCREWS embedded in its BODY. INSTEAD, it has a round movable circle with a slot that has LOCK, UNLOCK symbol. YOU CAN use a coin to move it. but then my problem is in what way do i disassemble its parts after unlocking it,.

The scanner glass inside is cloudy

I recommend you do not take off the glass. I have done it and was never able to get rid of the dust, which really shows up on every scan. The fogging has something to do with an optical coating on the underside of the glass. If I knew then what I know now, I would let it be. If the fogging doesn't show up in scans, leave it. If it really does show up, the glass itself is often held down by simple double stick tape. You try to keep the tape intact so you can put it back down. It may be strong enough that the plastic frame on top of it could snap. Do it in as clean (not dusty) environment as possible so dust does not drift down inside the scanner. Never touch the lamp or move the scan mechanism. Again, don't do it unless it's showing up on scan results. Sadly, nobody "fixes" scanners, they are disposable, like coffee pots, even if they cost 300.00.

I am trying to scan slides with Epson Perfection V500 Photo...I placed the slides in properly and press the scan button on the scanner. It scans the row of slides as they appear on the scanner bed. But...

You have to have the plastic slide holder (positioner) placed perfectly. Look at the "A" and "C" tabs on the plastic holder. If they don't position your slides over the center of the glass, you are using the wrong tab! Slides have to be back-lit, which is what the top cover does. It doesn't light up the sides of the scanner glass, only the middle.

Fuzzy scanned image from Epson Expression 10000XL scanner

Make sure that the item being scanned is lying flat against the scanner's glass. If the scanned image is still fuzzy after adjusting the object, clean the scanner glass with a lint-free cloth and some vinegar or ammonia-free window cleaner.

Scanning 35mm negs on my Epson Stylus PHOTO RX620

Try using a slightly off-white background sheet behind the negative (glass-negative-sheet-scanner lid) first, or a "frame" around the negative that is anything but white... some scanners have an auto-detect feature that may be skewed for one reason or another.

Another trick, from a photographer friend, is to take saran wrap or another transparent but non-reflective material and place as a filter between the negative and glass, thus reducing glare. The sharpness may be lessened, but the glare is also lessened...

Hope this helps!

Brother MFC-210C, need to clean the scan glass underneath.

I know that you want to get at the fungus, but disassembly is not your biggest problem.

Reassembly and realignment of your scanner is your biggest problem.

Line in scanned item

Is the line in the same location everytime? Then the there is dust on the glass. If it keeps shifting, wipe the photographs before scanning. If the line appears same thickness at the same location, may be the scan module is damaged, but this is generally rare.
