Keep in mind that once you have configured the wireless networking on the print server, you MUST disconnect it from the wired network. It uses the same MAC (aka "hardware") address on both interfaces, so when it tries to participate on both, it fails to be networked at all. Make sure you're only using one (wireless or wired) network at a time.

SOURCE: Problem with DPR-1260

this kind of problem occurs in dlink router sometimes & after some time router stop responding after 10 -15 min & once u reboot the router it again start work for a while. the best solution to this problem is to reset the router back to its factory defualt settings u can do this by press the reset button on the back on the router ( it looks like a small hole u have to use a pin for press that button) once u have reset the router to factory default settings just reconfig the router & i am sure it will start working fine in case u still face the same problem just contact D-link or send me the details about the problem & the physical setup of ur router & printer etc

SOURCE: I have installed the DP-301U print server on my

Your print server has to have its own IP address. If you have your computer as 198.168.1.1 then your print server would be 198.168.1.2.
You cant have the same IP address on any 2 items on your network.

Need to install ir 5020 onto server. Do I need any config software first like HP JetDirect?

You would need to ensure that the IR 5020 has a valid IP address (Should be located on the Network Configuration Menu from the on-screen display). When plugged into the network for the first time the printer is usually given an IP address, this would allow you to connect to the web management interface and make changes to the settings from an easier interface than the on-screen display.

If you are planning on sharing the IR 5020 out from the server to other computers then you would then need to assign a static IP address to the IR 5020 so that the IP address would not change once configured.

(Side-note - I do not recommend using DHCP on printers as it can cause issues down the road if the printer is given a defferent IP address by the DHCP server.)

Printer is offline

Hello ,

Most people connect this printer wireless and have issues, so I'll assume you are connected wireless.

First, we will have to make sure the printer is properly connected to the network

  1. Go to your printer.
  2. Press “menu” and scroll down to network, then WLAN
  3. Go to TCP/IP
  4. Go to IP address. Make sure there is an IP address here (not 000.000.000.000). Change the last 3 digits to “050”
  5. Change the boot method to “static”

If your IP address is not a valid one (all zeroes) or is an APIPA address (starting with 169.254.#.#) you will need to run the wireless setup wizard again as the machine is not properly connected wireless

If you had a valid IP address before changing anything, it means that the printer offline is caused by the computer not being able to locate the printer.
This is usually caused by the printers IP address changing.

Changing the boot method to static will make sure the IP address on the printer does not change.
Now we will have to make sure the computer knows where to find the printer.

On your computer, go to your start menuè control panelè printer
Here you should see your brother printer. Right click on the printer and select “properties” (If you are running windows Vista, make sure select “run as administrator” and then properties)
Go to the “ports” tab

Select “add Port…” and then double click on “standard tcp/ip port”.
This will bring you to the add port wizard, click next.

In the field for “Printer name or IP address” enter in the new IP address of your printer and then press next and finally “finished”.
Make sure to apply the changes.

You should now be able to print.

Thank you,

HP Officejet printer

i assume that your printer is connected to a network. if so, it could be that the printer is set to use dhcp for the ip address. and if that's the case, it's better to set the printer to use static ip address since there would come a time that the dhcp server (a router most of the time) would provide another ip addresses to all the devices connected to it. that could be the reason why you are getting a "no connection" message (disconnecting and reconnecting it at times would solve the problem temporarily).

here are the steps on how to set static ip on the printer using a windows computer.(Note: the installation cd can automatically assign a static IP address as long as the printer does not obtain a dynamic (dhcp) address)

- boot up your computer the normal way so it'll get an ip address from your dhcp server
- then turn off your dhcp server so that the printer will not get any ip address via dhcp
- reset the printer to set its factory default configuration (with no dhcp address)
* unplug the printer from the power
* plug the power cord back in while holding in the printer’s
report button (it will try to find a dhcp server; after about three
minutes of no dhcp response, the printer will default to a static ip address of 192.0.0.192

- then print a configuration page to confirm that the ip address of the printer is set to 192.0.0.192

- then press the report button (wait until IP address is 192.0.0.192 before proceeding. if it remains set to 0.0.0.0, check the network cable connection to the printer and to the network is secure. If some other address appears repeat steps 3 and 4 until the default address appears
- you can now start the software installation cd

*during the installtion, follow these steps:
- select the model of the printer that you are using which is hp officejet before clicking on "next"
- then select "do network settings for me, then press "next
*follow the instructions on the remaining install screens
- the software will pick an ip address in the private 169.254.x.x range (not available on the open Internet) and permanently assign it to the printer. it will also set up a static route to that address in the computer’s printer configuration
- turn the dhcp server back on by turning on the dhcp server by
connecting your cable/dsl modem or dhcp to the network. because the hp now has a permanent static ip address, it will
no longer try to use dhcp server to get an address
- install the software on the other computers on the network who will be using the printer. the installation software will discover the hp printer at the 169.254.x.x address, and will add the static IP address in each computer’s printer configuration

Note: if the installation cd will permit you to change th private ip address from 169.24.x.x, it's better to set it on the same range as of the ip address given by your dhcp server (for example your dhcp server provides ip addresses starting from 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.250, set the printer's ip address to 192.168.1.59-below or any ip address that will not compromise any ip addresses that were already being used by your other devices)

hope this'll help you but if you'll have other concerns just ask me.

ciao!

Printer not working Error offline

I recently resolved the same problem by going into the Printer and Faxes under Control Panel. Look for the printer icon that shows in offline status. Right click 'Properties' and go to the Ports tab folder. Select the Port IP address in question and click on 'Configure Port' button. Click on the check box next to SNMP [SNMP status enabled] to remove the check mark and to disable the option. Click OK on the Configure Port window. Click Close on the properties window. Hope this helps.

DPR-1260 ... prints but cannot access web config page

To get into the web configuration you need to know your firmware on the DPR-1260. If it is 1.12, us http://dlinkps-xxxxxx where the X's are the last 6 number of the mac address. If it is 1.20 and up, use http://dlink-xxxxxx, where the x's are the last 6 number of the mac address. If you do set it up as DHCP or static and know the ip address of the print server just type in the ip address of the print server on the address bar.
