If you enter the ratios using the fraction entry key ( [a b/c] the results will be displayed as fractions. And when the calculator displays fractions they are always in their reduced form. In general, when you are manipulating fractions ( Pi/2 is no a fraction even if you write it as one) you can try to simplify them by looking for the greatest common factor (GCF) of the numerator and denominator. When you simplify by the GCF the fraction that is left is in its reduced form.

It is simple. 36=4x9 and 63=7x9. The number 9 is a common factor in both numbers. You can simplify the fraction by dividing both the numerator and the denominator by 9. 36/63=(4x9)/(7x9). You can rewrite the fraction as (4/7)*(9/9)=4/7 because 9/9=1. The reduced fraction equivalent to 36/63 is 4/7. Since 7 and 4 have no common divisor you cannot reduce the fraction further.
If your calculator is configured to be in MthIO, the fraction that is displayed is always reduced to its simplest form. (The denominator is the smallest possible.) If you are adding fractions, the result is also a fraction in its reduced form. If you want to convert a fraction to a decimal number, press the [S<=>D] key.
To set MthIO: Press [SHIFT][MODE] (SetUp) and select [1:MthIO] To set LineIO: Press [SHIFT][MODE](SetUp) and select [2:LineIO] In LineIO, all results are expressed in decimal format.
Hello, You get access the command by pressing [MATH][1: |->Frac]. If you want enter a fraction and keep it as a fraction (albeit a reduced one) key in the number then the sequence [MATH][1: |->Frac]., then [ENTER].
Practice : 27/48 [MATH][1: |->Frac] [=] gives the reduced form 9/16. While this fraction is still in [ANS] memory, you can press [MATH][2: |->Dec] [=] to get the decimal value 0.5625 Hope it helps.
