SOURCE: please describe the cmos battery location on hp

On the mainboard you will see a big silver 3v button cell. this is the BIOS/CMOS battery. It is held down by a clip, using a screwdriver pull it back and then use your finger to pop it out. Replace it with the same size and voltage button cell.

Thanking you

HP Desk Top Pavillion a815n - what type of mother board battery does it use?

The motherboard battery is the CMOS battery that has a part number of CR2032 and can be acquired at your local Walmart or Target type store. You will need to remove the side panel of the computer to get to the motherboard and just look for a round battery should be silver looking. Remove it and replace it with the one you purchased if it needs replacement that is.

Clock in computer will not maintain time and date

Yes it very probably is the CMOS battery, time is kept counting electric pulses, when the computer is turned on there is power and memory to do this, but when it is turned off it relays on the battery to keep this an some other settings, maybe you're receiving a warning at boot time. Check this guide for replacing such batteries:

You need to replace the CMOS battery--a flat battery about the size of a quarter.
When you open the case, you will see it attached to the motherboard. Use caution when removing it from the holder--one side usually has a little tab that you can push to one side to release the battery.
You need a #2032 battery.

Hp Pavilion a350n shutdown and will only boot up to a blankscreen, (no Windows logo) there is not beep, no indication of any problem, power is good, video card is good (tried three cards), switch monitors,...

I assume by power is good you mean when you press the power button on the pc it spins up.

1) unplug all the components such as hard drive, floppy and USB from the motherboard.
(so you should only have the VGA, monitor and motherboard with RAM and CPU.) turn it on and see if you get a screen. if you don't there is possibly a problem with the motherboard.

if you do get some display on the screen 2) switch off and plug in one component at a time and then switch back on. if it works turn it off and plug in the next component and turn it back on. repeat until you find the faulty component that cause it to not turn on.
