JTP15 Oven - Shuts down after preheating

I can tell you that the temp sensor should not cause this problem. It only changes resistance as it heats up, the board senses the change of resistance and converts it into the temperature and tells the relay to open or close. The only way I could see the sensor have any effect would be if it was shorting out at a certain temp, but the control should sense the short and give you a code. It normally would stay shorted also and you wouldn't be able to reset the oven. However, I have seen stranger things happen. The sensor is only about $15-20, so it would be worth a try.

The obvious answer would be the control has a bad solder joint on the transformer. Since you have replaced the control that doesn't seem to be the problem, but it still could be.(more on that in a minute)

I have the tech manual for the 14 and 16 series but not the 15 but they should be the same.

According to the parts list for your oven, the transformer is mounted on the board, so we need to make sure all the wires are on the correct terminals. If you have changed the control you probably found the tech sheet in the top of the oven. Go over it and make sure all the wires are on the correct terminals as indicated by the lettering on the board, don't depend on where they were on the old board.

Some of these ovens had a separate transformer with wires going to the board. I don't see this on your parts diagram, but if by some chance it does, you probably have a bad connection at that plug.

If all this checks out ok, you would want to check the neutral wire to the control. The elements will work fine without a neutral connection but the control has to have it to work properly.

If this is not the problem, that leads us back to the control. It is not unheard of to receive a new faulty control board, especially if it is a rebuilt board. The problem you have is one that would be overlooked by the rebuilders unless they were looking for it specifically. I have a GE oven about 2 yrs older than yours and put 3 controls on it before I got one that worked properly. They all gave the same failed sensor code but only every 10 hours. Oven worked fine other than that. I would shut power down and back on and 10 hous later the F2 code would pop up. Third board fixed it, four years now with no problem.
