Take the cartridge out and put it in a cup with about 1 cm of hot water for a few minutes. Dry the cartridge on some tissue and hopefully you will see all three colour on the tissue. Reinsert and clean print heads again. This normally works.

Try removing your color cartridge and you shake it vigorously, if this persists, try a re-fill.

Don't know how to put new ink catrige in my Canon MP390

This solution was already posted by solofixya, Nov 2008
With the machine powered on. Just lift up the entire top portion on the platen unit, lower the front verticle cover and the printhead should come to the correct position to change out the ink tanks, just tilt tanks towards the front of the unit and lift out.

Can not use any other functions except print

I have Vista and a MP390. Did you install the MP toolbox, that is where I have to scan from. Also did you check for any new drivers that may need to be installed?

Printer will not print black with new cartrige.

I don't know if you will find any online, but Canon's customer support center (1-800-828-4040) sells print heads for your model (about $40). Use the phone prompts for supplies and accessories.

Problem with colored cartridge

Perhaps your cartride is low on ink, some printers will give you a status inside your printer settings on how much ink is in the cartridges.

Canon MP390 Multi

I've had several of the MP390 printers die on me, usually just out of warranty. This is not a print head issue. Sounds like its time for a new printer.

Black not printing

I just ran into a similar issue with my MP390. Actually both the color and black inks were not printing very well. I would get very inconsistent printing. Fixed the problem very easily and quickly as follows: On the top of each print cartridge, there is a small hole. Remove the print head (lift the gray bar at the front of the print head and lift out the print head) with the cartridges still in place. Holding the print head over a piece of paper/paper towel, blow into the holes on the top of the cartridges (either directly or using a straw/tube of some kind). You should get ink coming out of the botton of the print head, both color and black. Replace and print head and test print.
