Hi,
If your meaning can you track the GPS, no you cannot track a GPS unless it has a tracker fitted, you cannot trace it if it has been stolen,
Ironically, they work in the opposite way to a tracker, it is a locater, not a tracker

Inproper directions

Try updating your TomTom ONE unit with the latest mapping software on TomTom website for $69.95.
http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/select.php?D=29&M=480
Most PND units these days are very accurate but they are not 100% accurate so if you find an issue with the direction or location of an address, try reporting it to TA who is also owned by TomTom.

If you are not happy with your TomTom unit, consider testing a differnt model or brand such as Garmin or Magellan to see if the direction is any better. Garmin and Magellan both use NavTeq mapping software and most consumers are happy with their mapping software.

If you are in a pinch, you can rent a GPS from GPS4Rent.com and receive a unit with the latest software available to enusre you that you will have a sucessful trip without getting lost to much.

You can buy a higher end PND product such as a Garmin nuvi 255-265, TomTom 920-930 or Magellan 1470 or a Maestro 4700 from Autonavdirect.com if you are not happy with your TomTom ONE.

No gps signal with tomtom

Solution for No GPS Signal

To pinpoint your location, you need to get signals from at least 4 satellites. If you receive signals from less than 4 satellites or the signals are not strong enough, the Driving View stays gray and one of the following messages is shown in the bottom right corner of the Driving View:
  • Waiting for a valid GPS signal
  • The GPS signal was lost sec ago
Note: In previous versions of the TomTom application the message may vary.
If you see any of these messages, try the following:

Finding a GPS signal
In the following cases it can take up to 5 minutes to find your current position:
  • You use your TomTom device for the first time.
  • You haven't used your TomTom device for a longer time.
  • Your TomTom device has been relocated without using it (e.g. after traveling by plane or train).
If it takes longer than 5 minutes, make sure that you are in an open place without tall buildings or trees around you.
Once your TomTom device has located your current position, the Driving View is shown in full color and shows your position on the map.
Tip: Most TomTom devices can use QuickGPSfix™ to locate your current position faster.

Flight mode
On devices with built-in GPRS connectivity, flight mode also disables your device’s GPS reception.
To switch flight mode off, tap Flight mode in the preferences menu and then select Restore connections.

Clear View
Your TomTom device must be outdoors to locate your current position.
Try repositioning your device in your car; ideally, try to position it at the lowest possible point directly on the windscreen.
Some vehicles have a heat reflective shield embedded in the windscreen, which may prevent your device from locating your current position. If this is the case in your vehicle, use the TomTom External Antenna Kit (available as an accessory).
Tip: As a reference, place your device outside your parked car to see if it can find your current position.

When I turn my GPS on it says waiting for valid GPS signal. It's been charged and I have tried to change locations but nothing happens. Ay advise? I lost my manual. Lynda

Lynda, if you go too tomtom home on your computer, click on help and then click on read manual for my device, it will show you different languages, click on your language and internet explorer will open showing you your manual, but if you get no help there click on support in tomtom home to view the FAQ pages.

Xl 330s will not locate/display maps, just a blank screen saying "no maps found"

suspect that your maps file is corruped or lost. this may have occured due to a drop or other inteference such as high magnetic field or eletromagnetic interference.
if you connect your tomtom to your pc you can view inside to see if the maps are in the device. if they are not then you may have to redownload them from any map software you had or from the TOMTOM website using tomtom home.

I need someone from tom-tom to get in touch with me please concerning a missing tom-tom of mine. [email protected]. please help

you can contact tomtom HERE but if your tomtom was lost or stolen, they will not be able to help you locate it, because your tomtom is a receiver and not a transmitter.

if all gps would be able to transmit there location, there wouldnt be anymore gps thefts.
