If you have the ABOVE GROUND system, where the filter and pump are right next to each other, you can find a manual at the following link:

http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/sand_dollar_sysOM.pdf

The hoses are connected to the ports on the valve. The ports are labelled, but hard to read. The Waste Port is the one under the valve position WASTE and is the easy one to find! The other ports are labelled Return- which is the line going to the pool and Pump- which is the one that comes from the pump into the filter.

If you have an inground pool, with the filter and pump seperate, then the manual for the Sand Dollar is at the following link:

http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/SandDollarOM.pdf

Hope this helps you out!

I don't know how to vacuume me pool. I have a hayward sand filter

all you need is a pole, a vacuum hose, and a vacuum head. connect the hose to the vacuum head and the head to the pole. Submerge the vacuum head and the pole into the pool and push the vacuum hose slowly straight down so that it fills with water. Once the entire vacuum hose is filled with water, plug it into the skimmer suction or wall port. You may have to adjust the valves at the pump to increase suction to wherever you have to vacuum hose plugged in to.

Hope this helps

Show how to hook up hoses to sand hayward filter

Here is a copy of the users manual for these pool filters. Page 5, specifically, should help you because it has a diagram of the filter and where the hose connections are. It should have everything you need to get it set up properly.

My filter has only been used for 2 months, it seems like there is sand on the bottom of pool, I just had new liner put in because the sand crystallized last year and I couldn't get it off. The filter...

Hayward should stand behind their filter. If the unit is only two months old, the seller should be helping you. If there is sand in the pool, it is because on the bottom of the filter is a distributor which is tubing with many thin slits. The slits are small enough that sand can not get through. If a piece of the tubing breaks or if it is not installed tightly, sand will continue to get out and into your pool. If you Google Hayward, I'm sure customer support will be able to help you.

Use of pool vacuum

Try consulting the owners manual for these pool filters for more info. I can tell you that you need to have your valve set to rinse for normal vaccuming and waste for heavily soiled pools. Hope this helps.

When vacuuming out iron, its blowing back into the pool

ok -
1. go to k-mart or pool shop and get yourself some pool socks.
Pool socks fit over your skimmer filter and will filter out smaller bits before going into your filter system - very good to use when 'vac'ing your pool when there are lots of particals in your pool.

2. If you have a sand filter system - you will have a control handle some where on your pipe work near your filter, which will have around some settings you can select with handle... like....> Normal, backwask, rinse, recirculat + others PLUS a pressure guage.

If you do have this sytem - 'vac' your pool on Normal - then when finished OR pressure builds - back wash - rinse - then back to normal.

sorry about spelling :)

Sand Dollar Filter

If sand is returning to the pool, the most common cause is the laterals, or the internal pipe is not connected to the valve properly.

If you have laterals with "slots" on one side and solid plastic on the other side, the slots have to be installed so that the slots face downward, toward the bottom of tank. If one, or more, are facing upwards, you are pulling sand right into the pool. If you have the newer laterals, with slots on all four sides, one, or more, may not be tightly in place.

If you have too much sand in the filter, that could cause this issue also. Pentair recommends using the #20 Standard Silica Sand in the filters.

Hope this helps!
