Tripping of circuit breaker

Once in awhile, when the door is opened rapidly, the circuit breaker trips for the microwave. It appears to happen only when the door is suddenly opened and never when opened slowly. I have taken it apart and cleaned it and checked the door switches. I am not sure how and why the door switches would be able to trip on the circuit breaker yet the fuse in the microwave never blows? I would like to repair this as I believe this could potentially cause more other serious problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Charlie

The microwave is on its own circuit breaker of 15A. I have moved it to another circuit breaker just in case the problem was with the circuit breaker and it is not. The new circuit breaker also trips once in awhile

My Sharp R1480 often trips the circuit breaker while cooking. There are no other appliances on the 20 amp circuit. The system had been working for ~5 years. I replaced the 30+ year old breaker and the problem continues. The vAC reads ~ 120VAC and does drop instantaneously to less than 100VAC for very brief, unrecordable duration. Could an intermittent tube or capacitor cause this?

Check what other appliances are on your circuit. What goes off when the breaker is tripped. You may need to relocate the microwave to a different circuit. Try to stay away from the refrigerator or AC circuits.

Hi there, I have a Kenmore Elite microwave that recently started tripping the breaker every time the door is opened when running. If I stop the microwave, THEN open the door it does not do it. Ideas?

they use a lot of power and should have it's own outlet, try plugging it in to the same plug as refrigerator, it's a double circuit and will have the power to supply both units, there should also be another plug in kitchen that is double circuit, keep trying different plug to you find it..
double circuit means top has 1 breaker and bottom is on another breaker

Opening the door tripped breaker a few times, now microwave will not power on.

Sounds like a bad switch should have three primary, secondary, and monitor switch after 5 years change all 3 they are not the same primary and secondary are NO ( normally open ) and the monitor NC ( normally closed ) unit will not come on the fuse on the filter board is blow this usually shorts out the filter board change the switches first and replace fuse may not have to replace filter board hopes this helps.

How can I stop my G9115SL microwave from tripping my circuit breaker?

I run into this problem when people are running their microwave off a 15amp line. Especially if it is sharing the line with another appliance like a refrigerator or large over head light or in my wife's case...the vacuum cleaner. Step one is to count the amps on the line. Step 2 is to replace the breaker. They do go bad but not often. Good luck.

Wmh1162xvs-2 trips breaker on operating door

Most likely bad interlock switch(es). These switches operate as the door opens & closes. One or more need to be replaced - OR - the switches are OK & the door latch isn't causing them to be activated.

Microwave keeps tripping circuit breaker

Chances are you have a shorted "monitor" interlock switch, or its mount is broken.

See this door switch help file.

GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441 BH04 tripping circuit breaker

your power transformer for the magnetron could have a shorted primary power winding, the door safety interlock switch could be mis-adjusted,this normally blows the internal unit fuse,a shorted high voltage capacitor,or diode,a bare wire inside the unit, more than the microwave on that circuit or a weak circuit breaker in the house power panel

Chek the high voltage capacitor and the diode . If one of them are short there is a chance for tripping the breaker

Breaker tripping

Make sure it is plugged into a 20 amp circuit. If it is in a kitchen it should be a 20amp breaker if it trips a 20 amp breaker it needs to be replaced. If it is a new house and you plug it in in the kitchen and it trips a 15 amp breaker then the house does not meet code. ref Article 210.52(B)(1) NEC
