What causes my tv to switche off and on continuously

for a possible answer please provide the Model number as there are several hundred Sony projection models that are different.

it seems that the refresh rate of the tv is causing an issue try doin a hard reset
switch off ur tv
remove power cable from mains.
keep power button pressed for 15 seconds
then turn on the tv

There is a small capacitor on the power supply board that opens causing the unit not to start.

It sounds like a switch problem inside the TV if you have already tried removing the remote batts. Try replacing the switches behind the push buttons on the front of the TV. Also, if glass cleaner or some other foreign substance has run down the front of the screen and into the set, this can cause switches to short out and cause this problem. Hi, this is main board failure and you will need to replace this vital board. you power board is fine but, it is unable to send a proper current through the main mother board due to the damage at hand.

The fault may be on the control board. Sometimes the button switches can be stuck, or there may be something causing some conduction on the control circuit board. It is also possible to have a component failure that is causing a continuous command to keep the volume to the high position.

Something that causes failures of controls in TV sets is when people clean the screen, they spray liquid cleaner on the screen. Some of it drips down in to the controls and on to the circuit board. This will usually cause damage, and thus the set will require shop service.

Micro switch was actually faulty,moisture had entered the switch and caused internal tracking and shorting out the micro switch ,making the pump run continually as it thought it was still in flood mode.
Flood appears to have been caused by a pin hole in the water fill hose in the base of the dishwasher,causing water to spray on the micro switch and eventually biuld up in the base of the machine.

This problem denotes a possible shutdown circuit activation caused by excessive current flow from the IHVT. This might be caused by a shorted horizontal output transistor, or a shorted and or open transformer (Applies to CRT type TV). This also can denote a switching power supply shutdown circuit problem (Applies to LCD or Plasma TV). Both of these issues should be checked by a qualified TV technician.
