Has anyone had problems with connecting an 'HDMI to HDMI + SPDIF + RCA L / R Audio Extractor Converter (HDMI input,HDMI+ Audio output)' to a Panasonic PT-53TW53?

I have a TiVo Premiere hooked up to my Panasonic PT-53TW53. I use the HDMI out, and RCA R+L outputs on the TiVo, and hook up to the digital in connections on the TV. The conversion of the HDMI out is via an HDMI to DVI cable. This has worked perfectly for years, but recently I wanted to disconnect the TiVo and replace with my Roku or Amazon Fire TV. Both have a single HDMI output. So I purchased an AGPtek HDMI to HDMI + SPDIF + RCA L / R Audio Extractor Converter (HDMI input, HDMI+ Audio output) box, hooking up the HDMI output from the Roku or Fire TV to the input on the extractor/converter, and simply disconnecting the HDMI to DVI and RCA R+L outputs from the TiVo, and plugging them into the outputs on the converter/extractor. The converter/extractor has a 3 position switch: PASS, 2CH audio, or 5.1CH (via and SPDIF or Toslink cable). I have had 2 of these converter/extractors, and with both the Roku and Fire TV I got the same results with both converter/extractors: With the switch on 2CH, which is where I understand I should get HDMI video and 2CH RCA audio, all I get is the RCA audio. No video. If I switch to PASS I get video with no audio. Of course on the 5.1 setting I get nothing, since the TV does not support SPDIF. Yet I see reviews all over Amazon indicating folks are using this converter/extractor for this very purpose, and it is working fine. I can't possibly imagine that it is some sort of incompatibility issue with the TV, since the TiVo has worked (and continues to) fine for years. Any ideas?

SOURCE: HDMI Signal gone

The HDMI interface may have suffered a malfunction, this offten happens due to stray voltages on the ground plane. If you do not have electronics experience I would suggest taking the set to the shop and having it repaired

SOURCE: PT-52LCX65-K Panasonic rear-projection LCD No Sound

My panasonic did the same thing. turns out my coaxial cable hooking up the cable from the wall was bad. Once i unhooked it from the wall, the sound popped. I wiggled it a little on the receiver end on the wall and got sound. So try replacing your cable box cord and see if it fixes it.

SOURCE: No video with HDMI port

try 2 things, first use the rgb cables or video (yellow) cable and plug it into the tv using one of the imports..(vid 1,2,3 etc...) and see if that works. then check to see if you get a picture by not using the cable box, by pass it and connect it connect it in the uhv channel. also make sure you have it on the right input of the tv (meaning scroll through the input button on your remote to find the picture...i've done this a million times). still no picture try your dvd player input and if you have a vhs input see if that works. if it is the hdmi input...to be honest it's expensive and a pain to replace...

SOURCE: ps3 hook up to panasonic PT-53WX54J

If none of the connections on the set work look for a menu on the unit in the owner manual for the PS3---it may be a selectable setting in that that is causing this problem--also try the PS3 on another set to make sure it is ok.

I want to play the sound from my digital TV through my Yamaha AX-396 do I need a converter from digital TV to the amplifier?

The HDMI to RCA cables are intended for A/V devices like projectors that understand how to translate the digital signal to an analog signal. Your amplifier will not be able to do this.

What make/model TV do you have? I don't know of any with HDMI outputs. Most only have HDMI inputs. What is your TV source (OTA/cable RF, set-top box, streaming device)? Does your TV have any audio out (digital audio output - fiber-optic or coaxial)?

If you have an HDMI source, you could use an Audio Extractor. See https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Audio-Extractor/s?k=HDMI+Audio+Extractor . You probably will need an extra HDMI cable and depending on the model either an RCA audio cable or a AUX to RCA cable. Plug in the source to the extractor's HDMI In, connect the HDMI Out to an HDMI input on the TV. Connect the extractor's analog audio output to one of the Yamaha AX-396 Audio IN connections. Connect the power adapter to the extractor and plug it in. Then turn on all of the components of your home theater system. (Probably you won't need to connect the HDMI out of the extractor back to the TV if your TV does have an HDMI out.)

If your TV has a digital audio output, you could use a digital to analog audio converter. https://www.amazon.com/DA-Converters/b?ie=UTF8&node=3224445011 lists some options. Again you may need to purchase extra cables. Not all models are sold with the needed cables.

I hope this helps.

Best converter for HDMI (ARC) port on TV to onkyo tx-ds555 receiver

Your receiver appears to have a digital optical input, so no converter would be needed, just an optical fiber cable (TOSLINK) between the two optical ports. However, the manual for your receiver states that several functions don't work unless there is also an analog connection. If you must have those, you can use an HDMI audio extractor. You may also need an adapter cable to convert 3.5 mm stereo audio to a pair of RCA phono plugs to make the analog connection.

Trying to hook up an older subwoofer to my newer Vizio TV how to single Jack on the subwoofer it is a rca subwhoofer

You did not list the model numbers of either item but I can tell you that the new televisions use HDMI to send and receive audio. With that in mind, there is no way to do what you want to do unless you buy a converter like this one: https://www.amazon.com/AGPtek-SPDIF-Extractor-Converter-output/dp/B00ECTHIKK

Can I use HDMI cable in RX-V1?

The Yamaha RX-V1 receiver does not have any HDMI connections. The spcifications are available from CNET: https://www.cnet.com/products/yamaha-rx-v1/ . You would need some type of HDMI audio extractor or HDMI to component audio/video converter to direct the sound to your RX-V1. The audio output can be either analog (RCA) or digital (optical or coaxial) with teh receiver. This is an example of an HDMI audio extractor: https://www.amazon.com/Extractor-Splitter-Optical-Converter-DotStone/dp/B01KYURMEW . You will need a second HDMI cable to send the video signal to your monitor. The extra audio cables are also not usually included with the extractor or converters.

I hope this helps.

How do I get audio out for headphones when there is no audio out from projector or home cinema player?

Hi. Looks like they left you high and dry there Shaun.

One solution is to extract the audio with a dedicated box then feed the audio to your headphone amplifier or transmitter (for wireless headphones).

P.27 of the manual deals with HDMI audio and ther's a link below to a magic box on ebay. Good luck.

I have a customer on the phone who has a olevia flat screen and can not locate an input for his cable wire. where are they located?

here are the only signal inputs located at the back of the tv.
1 x HDMI input ( 19 pin HDMI Type A )
2 x component video input ( RCA phono x 3 )
1 x VGA input ( 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15) )
Audio line-in ( RCA phono x 2 )
2 x S-Video input ( 4 pin mini-DIN )
2 x composite video/audio input ( RCA phono x 3 )
1 x headphones ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm )
1 x SPDIF output ( TOS Link )
1 x audio line-out ( RCA phono x 2 )
1 x subwoofer output ( RCA phono )
1 x serial

If you are looking for a coaxial cable input.. it is actually not available so you have to connect a converter from coax cable to RCA cable for you to connect it on your tv.

When connecting hdmi out from my panasonic blue-ray player to the dvd input in my yamaha rx-v365 there is not audio or video, why?

There are several video and audio inputs named DVD. For video you have HDMI, component and composite. For audio you have standard analog stereo and digital coaxial spdif input.
You need to configure the receiver to use the correct inputs - that means HDMI and coax. Also you need to connect the BD player via coax spdif cable to the receiver, because rx-v365 doesn't support audio via HDMI. If BD player has only optical output, use DTV/CABL HDMI input and DTv/CABL Optical input on the receiver.
