I have an LG side by side model# LSC23924SW. The door alarm is nothing short of annoying. I know that the newer ones can be shut off but this one can't. I need to disable it but I don't want it to interfere with any other functions. I traced the wires and actually unplugged the connectors for the doors at the board and the lights and buzzer still functions! So I am thinking of snipping the leads right at the piezio buzzer. Will this silence this pest without doing any damage?

SOURCE: door alarm keeps sounding even though doors aren't ajar

ginad, L&G missed the tolerance a little on the door switch. They do make a kit to correct the problem, I believe it's a little gasket that fits under the door switch. I use a plastic stick on, on the door itself, to solve the problem. As long as it's under warranty have the replair co. fix it. In the meantime just use a piece of tape to cover the door switch.....Catriver...post back

SOURCE: door alarm

It depends on the model you have.  Look on the door panel and look for the control button that shuts off the alarm.  Press and hold the button 5 to 10 seconds and that should shut it off.  If you don't have that feature, then there's nothing to disable the alarm.

SOURCE: door open alarm will not shut off

Try pressing the cut off button manually while the door is open. It sounds like the switch may be bad.

Stop alarm beeping

If you had a model number (on a sticker inside the fridge), there's probably a manual online that tells how to adjust the door.

Disable lg refrigerator door alarm

It depends on your model. I have a LRFD25850ST which is an older one from circa 2006. It's a side-by-side LG with the lower freezer. You can not turn the door alarm off, and the actual location of the beeper speaker itself seems to be INSIDE the left-side door, which would make it difficult to find to snip a wire. . Here's what I did to disable mine. Yours may not be exactly the same if it's not the same model, but maybe this will be helpful:
--
Above each door hinge on top of the fridge (top left, top right) are two plastic covers held on by one screw and a snap tab.
1. On each side, remove the screw, and snap the cover off.
2. The cover has the plunger switch on it that is activated by the door. The switch has a plug-in connector with 4 wires on it.
3. Two of the wires are HEAVY. Two are thin (mine were thin gray wires)
4. Snip either one of the thin gray wires.

That's it. You need to do this on both doors. I did not disable it on the lower rock-out freezer door, and did not look for where the similar switch is, because the freezer door is rarely if ever a problem for us. It's the two main fridge doors that always cause the beeping because it beeps in only 30 seconds which isn't even enough time to put a few groceries away or take out food to make dinner!

One side effect is that the in-door water dispenser will now WORK even when the door is open. I consider that a plus, as shutting off the water dispenser just because somebody opens the opposite door is a royal pain in the....

And of course, you no longer have a door alarm, so if you leave the door open, your food will get warm or spoil. But honestly... people survived for 50 years with fridges that didn't "remind" them to close the door like a child. We don't need this nonsense.

Is there any way to shut the door alarm off?, my wife can't stand it. Thanks!

If it doesn't have a button to turn off the alarm on the front panel, there is nothing that can be done.

The freezer door will seem to shut but not stick. The open door alarm for the freezer doesn't work.

First, the door gasket needs to be replaced. That shouild take care of the not shutting properly problem. Contact your manufacturer, or your local appliance parts warehouse for the gasket purchase. You will need to have the brand, model # and serial # ready.

For the alarm, if you want it to work you will need to determine if it is the sensing mechanism or the alarm itself. If you aquired the unit used, it is possible that someone simply disconnected the alarm because it annoyed them and they did'nt want to fix the gasket problem.

Want to dismantle the alarm sound.

I did this before and couldn't remember how. This works on our fridge which has a water dispenser and a bunch of buttons on the left door: Try holding the express freez and lock button for a few seconds. The beeping of the buttons should stop too. I tried countless live chats with the LG people and none of them could help me. I tried a bunch of combinations and found this one to work.

Pinging noise every few seconds

The pinging noise could be a door alarm which sounds if the door is left open for too long.

Sorry but some models cannot shut off the alarms.  The newer models can.
