Hi this fault sounds like a bad tab/ribbon fault, at top of the tv are ribbons connector to the screen, when one is faulty the heat makes them flex causing this fault, you can bond the ribbon down with a bit of rubber to stop it flexing, but this not a permanent repair as it is a screen fault. hope it helps

shaun

Check your resolution output from laptop it maybe set to high for the TV to handle, also go to the Display Properties and ensure that the second monitor out is enable. Good luck!!

SOURCE: My question concerns a Toshiba Regza model 52HL167

This will most likely be down to your screen controller board, Take the back of the tv and look towards the top middle, You will see your screen cable go into a rectangular board this is sometimes covered by a metal plate, remove this and check Ebay or Google for a replacement, there will be a part number on the board
Hope this helps?

SOURCE: TOSHIBA REGZA 24" LCD/TV cannot

"JUST PRESS CINEMA MODE ON YOUR REMOTE CONTROL AND SELECT APPROPRATE VIEWING MODE" it might be located under the left of 0 with an image like stretching as indicated on my remote. It is the issue about the overscanning and underscanning of tv using HDMI connection. I have been the same problem as you but I did solved it using this. Hope this would help!

My 52" Toshiba Regza has a six inch vertical line just left of center that changes color as the picture changes. Some times it stays with the same pattern for quite a while. It goes away when I turn it off...

you must either change the t- con board, or the left board strip. it is dangerous because mines caught on fire. but most like since that strip is connected to the lcd screen u will have to replace the whole entire screen.

Multicolor vertical lines on one third of screen?

Unfortunately TV's aren't built to last anymore...once LED sets came out the life of them dropped in half over what they were 10 yrs ago.. 2.5 yrs isn't that far below average anymore. .There is a good chance you have Tcon board issues, you can try the old trick of cooking it in your oven and see if that helps since it started out as intermittent or would work for awhile and got worse but only about 20% at best of the time that works, you can find instructions on how to do it on youtube if you want to try, it won't hurt anything but chances are it won't fix it...next step is buy a tcon board but there are other things that could cause it , tcon would be where I would start
