SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot w/Ice Maker Not Making Ice

hi LOP7,
In most cases you can easily solve this problem.
step one would be to make sure your freezer is getting cold enough. If you have icecream in your freezer is it frozen solid or is it soft. Most icemakers cycle around 0 degrees and if your freezer is not getting to 0 then it will not cycle and it will not make ice.
Step two would be to make sure you icemake is cycling. To do this simply lift the little shut off arm on your icemaker and wait about an hour then go back to the icemaker and drop the arm down. The icemaker should start going through a cycle. You should notice the arm slowly begin to raise and the ice dispencer fingers will begin to turn. Then you will hear it call for water. You may hear a humm.
If the freezer is cold enough and the icemaker is cycling that only leaves the inlet valve. replace the valve and enjoy the ice.
If the freezer is cold enought and the icemaker does not cycle, then you have a bad icemaker. Simply replace the icemaker and viola.
Third if the freezer is not cold enought 0 defrees. Then you may have a defrost problem. In this case post more info and I will be happy to help. Good luck [email protected]

SOURCE: Ice maker not working Kenmore model 106.55226400

Look for an ice cube lodged in the fingers IM. Get a hair dryer and melt that dude. No ice cube? Add some water to the IM mold. If it kicks out some ice but makes no more then you is gonna need a water valve. If it don't kick out no ice then you is gonna need a ice mold thermostat. Either one is very easy and cheap to fix. let me know Kimosabe.

SOURCE: kenmore refrigerator side by side model

Your fridge has a dual solenoid water valve - one side controls the water flow to the dispenser, the other to the ice maker. It's possible that one side burned out while the other is still good.

Here's a photo of what it looks like:

cgaither98_0.jpg

Here's a link to the replacement part:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/Kenmore-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/218658000/0046/253/Model-25358682890/0582/0165000?keySuffixId=NA&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=25358682890&subCompDesc=Icemaker&brandDesc=KENMORE&modelDesc=Side-by-Side&blt=11

Before replacing the part, make sure the solenoid is in fact, bad. Get a voltmeter, and touch the probes to the electrical contacts on the solenoid, like so:
moz-screenshot-9.pngcgaither98_2.gif
If the meter barely moves, the solenoid is bad.

If both solenoids test out OK, the other possibility is that the water supply line is kinked or clogged. Also, if your water dispenser has a filter (also on the back of the fridge), it might be clogged. My money's on the solenoid, though.

Good luck, and if this helps, please my answer!
Also, thanks to Zenzoidman for the pics.

Kenmore coldspot model 5155 2101 we just replaced the ice maker. I can fill it with water, it freezes and dumps but does not refill. the water dispenser on the door works fine

From what you are stating this is a dispenser refrigerator with 1ce/water through the door. This type refrigerator has a dual sided water inlet valve. It looks like the half that fills the icemaker may be bad or may have the power connector that came loose. This is the part on the back that the house water line connects to. It should 2 wires going to each of the 2 coils (total 4 wires). If wires are connected, I would say 1 coil is bad and the valve needs replaced. Since you already replaced the icemaker that rules that problem out.

The water supply solenoid valve may be malfunctioning or the fill tube to the icemaker may be mis-positioned.

My icemaker quit working. Water does not come in to fill the tray. Water source is turned on. In door water dispenser works fine. What should I do to troubleshoot? I don't hear the solenoid click in...

have you checked the inflow tube to see if it's iced up? if your icemaker isn't filling with water and your getting water in the dispenser your feeder tube is probably frozen

Kenmore Coldspot #106.9750610. Icemaker does not

restricted water flow or pressure from house water where your taped into. your shut off or Tap a line may be cloged or if you have a water filter its cloged. It could also be a bad water valve in rear of refrig. start at the sourse of water and work back to frig. A rare thing could be that the timing gear on the ice maker is burnt and not trigering valve long enough to fill icemaker
