SOURCE: Kitchenaid stand mixer oil leak

Hi. The grease that your mixers are lubricated with has reached a stage where the oil is leaching away from the grease. All your machines need this grease changed. Shell Darina EP-2 or Chevron FM ALC EP-2. These machines need to be internally cleaned and re-greased. It's important to remove the oil from any place that it drips. The planetary gear must be removed, cleaned and re-greased also. It's a messy job, but you can do it yourself if you're familiar enough with machinery. If not, then a suitable service outlet can easily do it.

If you choose to do it, go to the Kitchenaid website and locate the parts files for your particular model, these drawings will assist greatly with the project. If you can, take digital photos at every step of dis-assembly as a reference for re-assembly. If this solution assists you, please rate it. Good luck! ricardok45

SOURCE: Taking the top off my kitchenaid mixer

Remove the back housing by removing one screw and liftingand pulling rearward.
Remove two screws holding the metalic edge trim. This uncovers the seam. Screws are on the back.
Remove four visible screws from the bottom of the head around and near the pillar.
Now gently using a screw driver, push the metallic ring on the mixing head down and off.
This uncovers five more screws about the mixing head. Remove them.
Using a very small screw driver or punch, puch the pin out of the mixing head shaft.
Remove the mixing head housing.
Lift up on the motor housing to remove it.
The motor/gear housing is the top protion of the mixer. Its loaded with grease so do this over a covered countertop or some place easy to clean. The grease won't run, but it can fall out in gobs.
Make sure all sealing surfaces are clean, especially the gasket around the gears. This will insure a good seal. No gear grease in your famous cookies!
Reinstall in reverse.

SOURCE: kitchenaid stand mixer bowl lift not working

Yikes!!! How old is your mixer? In most cases in a bowl lift model, the plastic lift mechanism breaks. It is not hard to fix or get fixed the parts are inexpensive and it is totally mechanical not electrical to fix. Go to kichenaid.com and then click on support the drop down menu will give you a selection to get manuals and user guides, click that selection, then you go to a page that will ask you for model number, look under your mixer and use the model number on the white sticker. you will be able to download the parts list for that model. The parts list will show how the lift mechanism operates and how the parts go together. the next page will give you a part number for the parts involved in the lift mechanism. Now go on ebay or amazon and type in the part numbers that you need, you will find almost every part involved in the lift mechanism, Now get a screwdriver a punch and a non metal hammer, once you have the part list and you see how it goes together you will be able to disassemble the lift and repair. you can fix it for about $15.00 and an hours time. That does not include the wait time for parts shipping to you, that will take about a week. You can also call kitchen Aid and see where your nearest approved repair center is and take or ship your system there, "for the price of your first born". But while you are there you can buy the parts that you need. There are not a lot of authorizes centers around every corner. if you have a warranty definitely call Kitchenaid, they have one of the best "No Hassle" exchange for another mixer programs in the biz. The negative is that it ABSOLUTELY ends on day 365 of your one year warranty.

What kind of grease can be used on a stand mixer after replacing a stripped worm gear? model:K45SS

Food grade grease is what Kitchen Aid put into the gearbox originally. They do supply it as a spare part if you cannot find it as a non Kitchen Aid part.
